Though having a huge argument with your best friend was never considered a good thing, Julian was very fortunate. Her grandparents were informed of Julian's punishment of a month's worth of detention and probation from the student board and the reasoning behind her punishment. Had the principle left out the reason she was spending every Saturday morning at the high school, she surely would have heard it from both Cecilia and Robert, but they weren't mad. Sure, they were disappointed, no one really wanted their grandchild to spend Saturdays in detention, but they were happy it was because she was sticking up for her friend.
When they heard about the huge argument she had with Jason, that's when they were upset, and they were upset for many reasons. At Julian for yelling at the boy, at Jason for yelling at her and then keeping the fact that he was detained for three days from his best friend as well as the fact that Julian was best friends with a delinquent, was being the keyword.
They hadn't spoken since that Monday that they argued and now it was Saturday, the first day she had to spend three hours in the high school doing absolutely nothing because she slapped a dick for what he said.
Robert drove Julian to detention at 7:30 in the morning, stopping in a parking spot right next to the stairs she needed. He had made coffee in the morning for both of them, Julian taking her's in a travel mug that she hoped she could bring into the school. They wouldn't let her drive herself, every student in detention needed to be driven to school, probably so that they could prolong the punishment to everyone. It was really stupid in Julian's eyes.
"Please, Julian, be careful with Jason," Robert told her, looking at her with a serious look. "Think before you say anything. Try and fix it maybe."
Julian stared at her grandfather, a blank look on her face. She nodded without much of a difference. "See you at twelve, Pops."
He smiled at her and nodded, trying to lighten the mood. "Love you, Jule."
"Love you too, Pops," she said as she opened the door. After one last look at her grandfather upon getting out, she closed the door and sighed deeply.
He was right in some ways; she needed to try an at least be civil with Jason and not start a scene in detention. It already wouldn't be great in there; she should at least have a friend. Looking around the parking lot, she saw Kim get out of her parent's car, an annoyed look on her face.
"Hey, Kim!" Julian called to the girl, smiling and waving at her but Kim didn't look over at her, choosing to keep her head down and walk straight to the doors. Julian knew what had happened to Kim, she got the message that had been sent to everyone, and while she was disappointed in the act, she knew that Kim was a good person, at lease, she hoped she was.
Things were starting to get weird in Angel Grove, it all starting with Jason pulling the prank at school. Billy had blown up his lunch box not even a week later, getting detention for that act. Julian had slapped a guy she had thought was a good friend, Kim sent a nude to a guy and then punched him in the face. It seemed that everything in Angel Grove was turning upside down, and they were not in Stranger Things.
Kim was already up the stairs when Julian met the bottom of the steps, so Julian didn't bother calling her name again. She walked up the steps slowly, dreading the walk through the school. It was bad enough spending her time there in the week, being there on a Saturday morning when she could be sleeping in, was even worse.
She opened the door, immediately regretting it when she saw that Jason was waiting for three steps from the doors, looking at them expectantly. "Jule!" he called as if she hadn't already seen him there. "Hey!"
She nodded at him mutely, not really sure of what to say to him. They walked in an awkward silence to the detention room, neither of them knowing what to say. Jason opened his mouth many times to get words out, but each time nothing really happened, nothing seemed right to say to her.
