Chris POV
"Keep moving worm!" The guard behind me commanded as he gave me a rough push forward to my shoulders.
I kept my head down like I was instructed to, not seeing where I was really going. When he shoved me, I nearly tripped over myself on our way from the main hall. We turned to the right and at the end and there was a large steel door, as if it belonged to a high security bank vault. It slid open like all of the other doors but what was on the other side looked nothing like what I have seen before.
Everything and I mean everything was completely different from the plain and sterile confinement I knew. It was as if were were teleported and traveling through the underground catacombs in France. My bare feet could feel the cold combel stone trail spotted with puddles of water from the excess humidity trapped in here as we began to make our way through. The air was no longer dry but now incredibly damp. The lighting difference from the rooms were complete opposites. Walking in here I could hardly see the guard in front of me. There were oil lamps lined along the wall but really caught my attention was what was written in red on the cement wall and what it had to say.
I lifted my head up just slightly to see messages written all over in what I could only assume to be blood. They ranged from a simple 'Help me' to a deep and philosophical message about life or existence. As we moved down the long hall, I was reading the words of those who've been, whether they escaped or even survived remained a mystery. But I did see one that I recognised and now explained the truth more.
"Though they have broken me, they can never change how I feel about you." - Ricky
I quickly scanned the message again, stopping in my tracks as I did. What could it mean? who was he referencing to? Me? When the minions noticed that paused to read, they shoved me harder this time making me lose my balance and falling to my knees.
"I said move it!" he snarled at me impatient and short tempered.
I got up, trying not to fall as I did and we continued along the path but it wasn't long until we reached a large wooden door decorated with big metal locks with bars going through the walls to secure it tight. It must have been twice as tall as me and when I looked up, there was a single small lamp containing a dim blue flame.
Only a few feet away from it, the guard behind me forced me down to my haunches. Grabbing my forearm aggressively as he pulled my bound hands closer to him. Taking out the same army knife from his waist line, he then cut me loose. He pulled me back up on my feet and the other guard opened the door, pushing me inside.
Though I was expecting both of them to come in, only one of them followed me into the office sized room the windowless and darkly lit. I shivered as the door slammed shut, making a booming echo throughout the space and I could feel the wind from the force on my bare back which sent chills down my spine.
I waited there on the stone cold floor kneeling with my palms rested on the cement. My eyes went wide as soon as I saw the dried trail of blood that lead my stare to a drain. The blood on the floor in front of me had to have belonged to Ricky. Who else could Rem be keeping captive here? They didn't even bother to clean it up? It had to be scare tactics but I won't give into his games. Hearing footsteps get dauntingly close, I looked up to see Rem towering over me, smiling, knowing that he'd just triggered more fear in me than there already was even if I pretended I wasn't in hopes of intimidating him. Nope. It just made me feel more pathetic that I already felt right now.
Clearing my throat with a loud nervous gulp, I opened my mouth to speak but no words could come out. Rem smirked and began to explain, already beginning to answer my unspoken questions.
