One last look in the mirror before I leave to meet Ashton at the coffee shop. I look good. Well, better than average. The boys are all in the kitchen, eating pancakes.

"Hey guys? Do I look alright?"

"Ooh!" Matt yells, "today's you're date! I forgot!"

"You look great (y/n)!" Edd smiles

"Mmmhmm."

Tom just grumbles instead of actually responding. He's just sitting quietly, not making eye contact with anyone. Weird.

"Hey Tom, are you doing okay?"

"What? Oh, yeah I'm... fine."

Still confused, I continue to pry at him for answers.

"But, you're being unusually quiet this morning. It's not like you."

"Well, I'm just worried."

"About what?"

"Honestly, this Ashton guy. I mean, I'm just worried because you barely know him and what if he tries something? If he does anything to you, you'll bet I'll kick his ass."

"Aw, you're worried about me Tommy?"

He blushes red.

"W-we'll... it's not a big deal but of course I am a little."

Edd and Matt snicker and whisper to each other, looking at Tom. He turns around, still red, and glares at them.

"Guys! It's not like that. I just mean, I mean... whatever. I'm just watching out for her!"

Now even Tord is focused more on the conversation than his smartphone. I wonder what he was reading so intensely.

"Matt, Edd, let pineapple head off the hook. You know we're all worried about (y/n)."

Pineapple head. Very creative, Tord.

"Yeah, that's true. Sorry Tom.

"It's okay Edd. You too Matt. (Y/n), you should get going or you're gonna be late. Stay safe!"

"Thanks Tom! Bye guys, see you later!"

I walk out the door and carefully shut it behind me. The cold autumn wind blows in my face as I walk down the street. Red and orange leaves slid across the streets and fly down from the trees. The weather is very nice this morning, not too cold, not too warm. Perfect for the season. After a few blocks, I reach the coffee shop and push open the smooth, glass door. The coffee shop is full of people, typing on laptops, sipping lattes, and talking with each other. Out of all the people though, I don't see Ashton. My watch says that I've arrived a little early, so for now, I'll take a seat by the windows and wait for him.
