"And Shoot!" Baekhyun had wiped the sweat from his brow multiple times today. The night hair has become humid in only an hour since sunset.

Kai had stood not even a kilometre away from Baekhyun, his hand resting atop of the small jar that had now been shattered into small crystallised pieces.

The bullets were not metal, as they would've caused too much sound for the Queen's liking.

"Good job everyone. Dismissed. We head out at sunset tomorrow night" the sergeant had spoken before abandoning his post.

The rest of the soldiers followed suite but Baekhyun watched as his shooting partner had allowed his long legs to tremble in the presence of a single woman; his bunkmate.

Kai had lifted his large hand to the back of his neck before scratching feebly, a large grin covering his lips while a blush tinted the tips of his ears. The girls was several heads shorter and stared upwards at Kai's composure with a small smile.

"You alright Baek?" Xiumin had asked before slapping his brother's back delicately. Both men knew that Baekhyun's mind had been preoccupied since the day they had arrived. That was two weeks ago; two weeks full of hard labour and plasma packs. By this time; Baekhyun was sick of it.

"No" Baekhyun had replied numbly, chest cavity aching for the compassion of one.

"We head out tomorrow. We could have the humans obliterated by dawn. You never know Baek, have some faith" Xiumin had abandoned his friend for his tent, feeling his exhaustion creep upon him like a cat to a nimble mouse.

The gun had felt heavy in Baekhyun's grip but nevertheless was the only anchor that had managed to keep his grip occupied.

His frustration had been spiralling out of control and he had hated himself for it. He hated that one person could tear him apart.

"You look as angry as I feel" Baekhyun had spun to be hit with Sehun's moonlit figure, a head taller than him at least. The roots of Sehun's dark hair appeared silver under the moon's touch, his skin glowing like early morning dew.

"I am. But my mother didn't screw me over" Baekhyun had said before patting his brother's shoulder.

"I love my mother and I realise that every King must prove his worth. I'm paying my dues now, rather than when I am crowned. I keep telling myself that this is the final test but could also be the reason for my undoing" Sehun had trailed off, allowing the cricket to fill the blanks for a few moments.

"When we get out in that field promise me that you won't abandon me. We're brothers" Sehun had spoken, desperation weeping from his tone.

"I won't, I promise"
