Darriel's POV

"James, I am going to get something to eat, stay with the boys ok?" I told my Beta while putting on my black sweater.

"Sure thing, sweet thing," James answered sweetly in a sing-song voice. "Dude, don't do that," I replied laughingly. James' laughter still echoed even after I shut the door.

I didn't mind my Beta teasing me but there's a time and a place for that. I guessed because I was brought up differently from all the other Alphas. I was raised by my mom. I rarely saw my dad except on training. My mom didn't want me to be too rigid and too strict like my dad so ... I am what I am now mostly because of mom.

As I jogged slowly to the burger shop which was only 10 minutes away from James' house, I noticed a petite girl walking in an opposite direction towards me. She had a very alluring smell, a mixture of roses and vanilla.

A wolf! My wolf notified me. As if I don't know, Shadow. I retorted while slowing down my pace to walking.

The girl noticed me and looked down in respect, I was sure that she could feel my Alpha's aura. I couldn't see her face because she still looked down as she was getting closer to me. I didn't know what had gotten into me but I really wanted to see her face so I commanded her to stop walking. She stopped at once and I could see that she was trembling.
