*Gina's POV*

I step inside of my house. It smells like alcohol. I can barely see in front of myself because no lights are on.

"Gina!" I turn around to see my dad hobbling over to me with a beer in his hands.

"Dad. You need rest," I reach for the bottle.

He quickly jerks away. "What are you doing out late?!" He slurs his words.

"It has nothing to do with you," I tilt my nose up.

"Oh sweetheart. You have been going out a lot recently. I don't like it," he hobbles to our closet.

"You can't control me anymore Dad," I tell him.

"Oh can't I?" I see a smirk on his face.

"No. Now stop treating me like a child," I walk closer to him. "Give me that," I reach for the beer.

When I do that, he pulls away and holds something up to my head. I look out of the corner of my eye and see that at my temple, there is a gun. I let out a loud shriek as my dad slaps me across the face. I fall to the floor onto my hands and knees. It's never gotten this intense. I have never seen him with a gun in my entire life. I hold my cheek as tears swell in my eyes. Dad stumbles around with the gun aimed at me.

"I dare you to shoot me," I snarl at him. "That way Mom can see how horrible you have become."

I see his eyes soften for a second, but go back to being black and cold. "Don't try me. I don't give a shit about what your mother thinks. She left. She didn't give a shit about my feelings so why should I care about hers?"

"What the fuck have you become?!" I shout. "Shoot me right now! Right here in the temple!" I point to my temple.

I feel a hard slap across my face again and look at my dad with his gun raised high. He slapped me with the gun. Instead of a small pain, a burning sensation forms in my jaw. "Fucking bastard!" I scream! "Mother would hate you! You're a disgrace to her memory!"

"ENOUGH!" He yells.

And then I hear a click.

I shield myself, preparing for a blow, but within seconds, the door is knocked down.

"Put. The. Gun. Down," I hear a steady voice say.

I look up and only see a blur. The tears in my eyes are making everything hard to see.

"Who are you to tell me what to do?!" My father screams.

"I have every right when it comes to safety," the familiar voice says.

Ross.

"Ross?" My voice comes out hoarse. The tears stream away and I am revealed to the tall blonde standing in the door frame.

"What have you done to her?" Ross asks with a tone that I can't quite dissect. Maybe fear. Or anger.

"She got what she deserved," my dad mumbles.

Suddenly, three policemen run up behind Ross. "That's him!" Ross says, pointing at my father. The men run over to my dad and grab him by his arms. They slap the gun out of his hands. I see my dad had tried to run away, but he was too drunk to get anywhere.

"Gina. I will get you. Next time, this boy won't be here to save you! You deserve everything you're going to get! Be ready!" My dad shouts as he is being escorted to the police car.

I roll my head into the ground and start trembling. This can't be happening. My life is a pure mess.

I feel a big hand on my back and I twitch.

"It's just me," a voice that sounds like it came from Ross says.

I roll onto my back and stare at him. He is crouched onto the floor and his eyes look frightened.

"Thank you!" I reach up and wrap my arms around his neck. "Thank you so much! You saved me!"

Ross hugs me back, but finally stands up. "We should get going."

"We?" I ask, confused.

"Yes. You're staying at my place for a while. I don't want you staying here," he looks around the house. "Too many memories," he whispers.

I stand up and say, "Should I bring some clothes?"

"No. We can get them tomorrow or something. Tonight, you can wear a pair of my sweatpants or something," Ross says.

I nod my head and make my way to the front door. My cheek is still burning.

"Ross. Is it bad?" I ask, pointing to the spot on my cheek that is most likely dark red

"No. You look beautiful," he smiles sadly and kisses my cheek.
