*Gina's POV*
I climb into the passenger seat beside Ross.
"You sure you're okay? You don't need to go to a hospital?" He asks, with worried eyes.
"Physically I'm fine. But mentally...I don't know. I'm terrified," I tremble in my seat.
"It's going to be okay," Ross says as he rubs my thigh.
I smile sadly at him. "I hope so."
Ross takes his hand off and pulls out of the driveway. We drive slowly down the road.
Then, I see my dad. Standing there, with a beer and a knife in his hands, leaning against a tree.
"Ross!" I screech.
He comes to a halt and panics! "What is it?"
"Go! Drive! He is right there!" I point to the spot where my dad is standing with a smirk.
I hear a sigh and look at Ross who is shaking his head. "There is no one there Gina. Just calm down. The police have him. Okay?" He looks at me sadly.
I sit up and look back at the tree. No one is there. I could have sworn...
"I'm sorry," I look out the window.
"Just remember he won't get you," Ross says as he pulls in his driveway.
I step out of the car, silent as ever. I follow Ross up to his door and step in after him.
I see Rydel in the kitchen and when she sees me, she drops everything and runs to me.
"Gina! Hey girl!" She yells, looping her arm with mine.
"Hey," I force a smile.
"Rydel. Not right now. We need to talk to Mom," Ross says as he tears Rydel's arm from mine.
Rydel sighs as she walks away.
"Mom," Ross says, walking into the living room.
"Yes hon-oh hi Gina!" Stormie smiles brightly.
"Hi Mrs. Lynch," I say, trying my hardest to smile.
"Honey. What's wrong?" Stormie asks, frowning.
"Mom. Something happened at her house. Something bad. Can she stay here for a few weeks or something?" Ross asks, almost begging. "Please."
Stormie's eyes flicker back and forth between us. "I want to know what happened," her eyes wander over my cheek.
I place my hand over my red cheek, feeling insecure.
Ross wraps his arm around my hip and pulls me close. Stormie watches our movements. Ross leans towards my ear and whispers, "You don't have to tell her."
I shake my head and take a look up at Stormie. "My dad got arrested today. Like twenty minutes ago actually."
Her jaw drops open. "What do you mean?! What did he do?" She asks.
"Um. He just-he..." I trail off, not knowing what to say. A tear rolls down my cheek and Ross pulls me in for a hug. His arms wrap around my back and I shove my head into his chest. I look up at him and see him mouthing to Stormie.
"Abuse," he mouths.
I cringe and start crying. Ross's fingers brush my hair, calming me down a bit.
"We're going to go," Ross says quietly to his mom.
"That'd be best," Stormie says.
Ross guides me up the stairs. I take each step slowly, not having the energy to do anything. We finally get up the stairs and we walk into Ross's room. It looks the same as it did last time. I drag myself to Ross's bed and fall on it.
Right then, I break down. I sob into Ross's sheets. Reality just hit me. My dad got arrested and I have nothing now. Nothing.
"Hey. Calm down. You're better off without him. Trust me," Ross lays down next to me.
"I know. It's just that I have nothing now. And I can't believe I had let that go on for so long," I lean my head against Ross's shoulder.
"Let what go on for so long?" He asks. I stay quiet and I guess Ross got the hint because he says, "Oh. Never mind. Sorry."
I wipe my nose and sit up. "I'm tired," I say.
Ross nods his head and starts pulling down the sheets.
"No. Are you crazy? I'm not sleeping with you! We just started dating today!" I yell at him.
"Ok sorry!" Ross throws his hands up in surrender.
I lift myself off of his bed and walk to his bedroom door. "I'm going to ask your mom if I can have some blankets to sleep on the couch."
And with that, I leave his room.
