Gina's POV

I grab my phone and shove it in my pocket. As I slip it in, it buzzes.

From: Riker👍

Uh, Gina. I need to tell you something. I like you. You're really hot and I can't take my eyes off of you. Sorry it's so sudden, but I needed to get it off my chest.

I reread the text multiple times. Did he really just say that? I have only known him for what, a week? A little more, but still. I decide not to text back and slip it back in my pocket.

I walk to the mirror to brush my hair and I see a big red line across my neck. That's where my dad's arm was. I sigh and put foundation all over it, trying to cover it. It works pretty well.

I slide on jean shorts, a black muscle tank, and converse.

When I walk down the stairs, I see my dad passed out on the couch. His arm is slung over the side of the couch and he is clutching a half full beer bottle.

Hopefully he gets a hangover. He pretty much deserves if.

I slip out of the house and into the warm sun. I grab my pastel blue penny board and place it on the ground. I take off skating down the road.

No idea where I'm going, or what I'm going to do, but I just skate.

I ride into my driveway and put my board back in my garage.

I run inside to see my dad clutching his head.

"Gina! Get me some pills will ya?" He yells at me.

I groan and walk into the kitchen and open a cupboard, revealing a bunch of pills. I grab the Advil and pour some in my hand.

"Here," I hand them to him. I also grab a bottle of water and toss it to him.

He takes the pills and waters it down.

"You're welcome," I say to myself.

He gives me a look. "Leave. Go somewhere. Just get out of my house."

"I'm going to a barbecue," I head towards the stairs. I hear a grunt, and I make my way toward my room. I get to my room and get ready to have a shower. I walk to the bathroom with two towels in my hand. I lock the door and strip down and hop in. I sing to myself as I scrub my hair with shampoo and conditioner. I rinse out my hair and turn off the shower. I step out, wrap my body and hair in a towel. I walk back to my room.

I put on the same thing I had on. White converse, dark blue jean shorts, and my black muscle top.

I dry my hair and straighten it.

My phone then buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out to reveal a text from Riker.

Hey Gina. Sorry about that last text. It was from my bro. Also, can you tell me when you're coming over?

*

To: Riker👍

Haha it's cool. And I'm just getting ready. Be over in about 25 minutes.

*

I click send and go back to straightening my hair. Riker texts me back saying, "Ok, great."

When I finish straightening my hair, I go downstairs and tiptoe out of the house, trying to dodge my dad.

And with that, I'm off on my penny board to the address Riker had texted me last night.
