Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre, Montmartre, Arc de Triomphe, and river Seine, these are just some of the many attractions which I see for the past seven years. I am used to the everyday life here in France, and I don’t feel lonely whenever I see Esahc.

“Esahc, ralentir! (Esahc, slow down),” I said.

“Cath moi mama. (Catch me mama),” Esahc said as he runs laughing.

I ran faster, and then I hugged him.

“Je t'aime mama. (I love you mama)” Esahc hugged me back.

“Je t'aime trop. (I love you too)” I kissed him on his forehead.

I named my son after Chase. Even though I had no idea if we could still see Chase after almost eight years of staying here in France, I kept on hoping and praying that one day, Esahc will meet his father.

“Are all of your things ready?” Mom asked me.

“I guess so.” I told her in a low voice. “Esahc just fell asleep. He’s been running around all afternoon.”

“Are you still mad at us?”

“It’s already almost eight years mom. And also, why would I be mad at you? You still accepted me after what had happened.”

Mom walked to me then hugged me.

“Don’t worry mom. I love you and dad. I am the one at fault.” I hugged her back.

I really can’t hold any grudge against my parents. I knew that they just wanted their only daughter to have a good life. After all those headaches I had given to them, they still supported me and let me finish my studies here in France.

After finishing Fine Arts, I studied and specialized in Interior Designing. I found out that I love to decorate the insides of our house so I decided to take up this. After years of studying, I got my diploma. Then mom and dad finally agreed that I could go back to the Philippines.

“Au revoir, France (Goodbye, France).” I said to myself before I enter the airport with Esahc. I felt nervous as I get my passport, as if my body would not like to move.

“What’s the matter Sam?” mom asked me.

“We thought you would like to go back to the Philippines?” Dad said.

“It’s nothing.” I set aside what I felt then I proceeded to the entrance.

“Your Tita Lily and Tito Wendel will pick you up there. Don’t worry. We’ll see you and Esahc in the Philippines after a week.” Mom shouted to me. “Take care, both of you.”

A direct flight from Paris, France to the Philippines would take about 14 hours. So I brought some things that would keep me and Esahc busy while riding the plane.

Thirteen hours after the take off, the airplane we were riding wiggled.

“Good day passengers. We are just experiencing turbulence. Please stay on your seats and fasten your seatbelts.”

I looked at Esahc, he seemed to be afraid. So I started to talk to him in english.

“Why don’t you show mommy a brave smile?” I smiled to him.

Esahc smiled back at me.

The plane started to wiggle again. The wind might have been really strong. You could hear already the passengers’ voices. I tried to stay calm as possible, not for me, but for my son.

The oxygen mask dropped out overhead. I quickly placed mine, and then I put on one to Esahc. “Don’t worry baby, everything will be fine.”

When I opened my eyes, I knew that I am in a hospital room.
