Chapter 12

As the door closed I looked at Arthur and told him, “You shouldn’t have said it.”

“What it?”

“About not wanting to sleep beside another man. It’s not that I don’t want to sleep with him, it’s just he know nothing about Chase.”

“Sorry for that, but I wanted to ask you something. Where did you go? Why did you left Chase?”

“I didn’t leave him. I was forced to go to France.”

“Why?”

“I can’t tell you the reason.”

“But, what if you will see Chase? Do you still love him?”

I looked away from Arthur and bit my lip. “Yes, I still love him.”

“What if I tell you that Chase is here?” my eyes grew big when I heard what Arthur just said. I don’t want to believe but there is a big possibility that Chase is here especially that he is his band mate before.

“I am telling you this now so you could prepare later. It is up to you if you are going to stay here and show up in front of Chase with a different person by your side.” Arthur turned his back from me. “Just don’t make any drama during my resort’s grand opening.”

I sat on the corner of the bed. It really is a small world.

I got nervous when the door opened. I was relieved when I saw Kirk coming from the door.

“Did I surprise you?”

“Oh. No. Not at all,” I shook my head.

“You seemed uneasy? What did Arthur tell you?”

I don’t want to hide to Kirk anymore, so I told him, “Chase is here.”

“Who’s Chase?”

“He is my son’s father.” I spoke softly. “I‘m sorry,” tears started to fall from my eyes.

Kirk sat beside me and hugged me. I don’t know what he thinks because he didn’t say anything to me.

The grand opening night came. Since it is a resort, the theme for the grand opening is Hawaiian.

I wore a floral tube dress that is above the knee, while Kirk wore a matching floral shorts and top. We bought our clothes together. We both wore matching lei (fresh garland).

“Look at us, we match!” Kirk happily said.

I gave him a faint smile.

Kirk came near me and held my face. He placed a flower on my ear, he then said, “Everything will be alright.” He lightly kissed me on my forehead.

I hugged Kirk without saying any words.

Kirk and I went to the beach front where the stage, tables and chairs were set up for the opening. There is a group of girls who are dancing hula on the stage.

“I’ll be beside you no matter what,” Kirk whispered to my ear then he held my hand.

Arthur saw us and walked towards our place. “You may sit there.” Arthur pointed at a table near the stage.

“Where will he be sitting?” I asked Arthur.

“At the table on the other side. By the way, didn’t Mitty told you that she will be here? I contacted my band mates and looks like William is with Mitty. I haven’t seen them for years because I moved here.”

“She didn’t tell me. Well, I didn’t tell her that I am going somewhere either.”

“Figures,” Arthur shrugged. “I got to go. Guests are arriving nonstop.”
