[Name] took her diary out from its hiding place. It was around 9:30, which is abnormally late for her to start writing. She had locked it up every night after she finished so that no one could read it. This book housed years of secrets and could cost her everything. She opened a clean page and jotted down her feelings for the day and shut it. She picked it up and walked over the her closet. She opened the closet doors. There, she got on the floor and found the little hole in the wall and put her diary in the locker she had hid inside of the wall. She closed the miniature locker and placed the lock on, covering the hole with a pair of shoes. She got up and closed her closet doors, putting a rubber band on the 2 knobs to keep it from opening itself. She plopped herself on her bed. [Name] stared up at the glowing stars on her ceiling. She hadn't taken them down since she was a little girl. Just as [Name] was about to fall asleep, she heard a sharp tapping at her window
She jolted up with a small gasp. Although hesitant, she got up and opened the blinds. Patrick was standing right outside. He motioned for her to open the windows, so she did. "What the hell are you doing out here?", she whispered, as to not attract her parents. "I came to get you", he said as a matter of factly. "What?", she asked, confused. "Well I never got to buy you food, so I figured we'd just go into the woods tonight", he told her. "No way", she said, "It's already getting dark out and we could get lost there." He smiled, "C'mon, just grab your sweatshirt and let's get out of here", he said. She though about it for a minute. She could spend the night boringly alone, or she could go out and explore the woods with Patrick. Her decision was quick. She pulled the rubber band off the knobs of her closet and pulled out a large black sweatshirt. It had been her dad's, but she took it years ago. [Name] threw the sweatshirt on and closed the closet. She stuck her index finger up, indicating at she needed one minute and Patrick nodded. She gathered her pillows up and made a life sized lump under her blankets. Once she was satisfied with her work, she put her feet out the window and hopped out. Thank goodness her room was ground level. Patrick helped her close the window from the outside once she had hit the ground. "Ready to go?", he asked, and she nodded. He also had on a sweatshirt, but his was light grey. Patrick's sweatshirt was also slightly oversized, making him look less tall. He handed her a heavy duty flashlight and flicked his on. "So, what are we even going to do out there?", she asked him."Anything you wanna do", he winked back at her. "In your dreams Hockstetter", she answered back. "Actually, I did have one of those last light", he said jokingly. She lightly punched his arm and laughed, "You might wanna keep that to yourself", she said. He laughed too.
They had arrived at the outside of the woods. A sea of trees lay ahead of them. [Name] had only known one path in these woods, and that was super specific. She had only hoped that Patrick knew his way around here. Patrick stepped into the woods, leaves crunched loudly under his boots. "You coming?", he asked her. "Hell Yeah", she said, taking her first step into the darkness.
Sorry about the super late chapter. I got caught up in schoolwork over the weekend so I had trouble writing, but here it is! I'm going to get back on track with my usual writing schedule. Also, check out my new story! Thanks!
