CHAPTER FOUR

"Do I really need to wear make up?"

Ash rolled his eyes as he brushed my hair and clipped the white butterfly clips that we bought on the way home two days ago. "Uh, is that even a question? We're going to a fancy ass ball. Remember that."

"Can I at least tie my hair up?"

"No."

I sighed, and quietly mumbled, "You're like an evil mother."

"Why thank you." He glanced at his watch. "Put on your dress, we'll leave by 8."

Ash went off to put on he's tuxedo while I went to my room to put on the dress.

After I changed into it, I looked at myself in the mirror. The cream pastel pink-ish dress that reached to my toes was dazzling. I placed on my earpiece. Underneath was my black suit folded into one small piece like the size of a phone, Ash has his ways. My guns (Gill and Bill), and I hid my black mask in my pocket just incase. It's been a while since I dressed up. The skirt was layered and had white plastic butterflies at the bottom that made me smile. My hair was curled and cliped at the sides with the butterfly clips. Ash did an amazing work with the make up, somehow. It was not too much but also not too little. It was just perfect.

"Ameliaaaaaaa," Ash bursted into the room, "Let's go- hey, looking good."

I didn't lift my eyes from the mirror, and smiled. "Thank you."

*•.

Ash parked the van at the parking lot where tons of fancy cars and limos were dropping off people.

"I'll go in with you first and when they bring the crown out, I'll go back to the van to guide you." He said as he fixed his bow tie. "Let's socialise!"

"Who even says that?"

"Me."

We made our way to the entrance, where two body guards stood, recieving everyone's invitations. After me and Ash reached the entrance, one of the bodyguards stopped us.

"May we see your invitation please."

I looked up at Ash, did we forget about the invitation? Ash nodded and proceeded to take an envelope from his pocket and passed it to the bodyguard.

He opened it and read it aloud, "Clarke West and his daughter, Kayla West." The bodyguard nodded and let us in.

"Thank you."

As we walked in, I gave the nice-job-face, and he replied with a "I know, I'm fabulous."

In the grand hall of the mansion stood hundreds of people. There were VIPs everywhere with their guards. The sounds of chatter suffused the whole place, the soft music filled the air with no effort, like waves hitting the beach. Some people were slow-dancing to it with their partners while the others continued to chat.

"Now remember, socialise." Ash said as he walked away, "Don't just stand there like a rock alright?"

"Alright." My eyes scanned the area, looking for someone to talk with. A young girl, who looked around fifteen or fourteen sat alone on one of the round tables near the buffet. She looked rather bored than enjoying the event. Her blonde hair was tied into a bun, her cheeks were cute and chubby, and her eyes were round and green. Her dress matched her eyes too. Well hey, there's someone to talk to.
