Isla returned home after sundown on Saturday, so her parents refused to let her out on Sunday.
She could have told her parents about the letters, the tree and the corresponding person.
However, she'd written about her mother and she didn't want her parents reading the letters.
So, she endured the punishment in order to keep her letters safe; her father safe.
Isla just wanted her parents to trust her, but they couldn't, not after Isla refusal to open up.
It meant Isla wouldn't be able to read any corresponding letters.
Isla needed the support because she felt particularly down.
As per usual, she tugged on a smile and pretended to be happy.
When her mother dropped her off, she got out of the car and forced herself inside.
She could endure another day with her friends because she knew she had a friend waiting for her.
