The Brake In

Of course!" the Alpha says happily. He moves around his desk and pulls us into a tight hug.

"We would be honoured if our daughters mate would stay with us" Mrs. Breen says. I smile to myself as I finally feel wanted. They all pull away from the hug and all take up their previous positions around the room.

"I didn't exactly bring anything with me because I didn't have time to get anything" I say sheepishly.

"We can go back and get it" Fallon suggests. Her parents nod and she grabs my wrist and drags me from the office. A few of the Pack members look at us angrily like I am kidnapping Fallon but most of the mothers watch us fly past with knowing looks. She pulls me into the forest behind the house and away from a the people.

"Change, we're going to get there faster and we can take your bike back here" Fallon says as she removes her shirt. I look away and change as she asks. I stick to my panther because I'm not ready to tell her yet.

I wait for her to change and we run together to the field. We race through it and pass a few other wolves playing around in the tall grass. Finally we come to the border. I cross it easily and Fallon quickly follows. We continue in silence until we come to the edge of the Pride's territory.

I check carefully and make sure no one is on patrol. I race across the borderline with Fallon in tow. I stop as we reach the tree line before the house. I change back and motion for her to follow. We reach the back porch and I open the back door silently. I am glad that it's Monday because everyone is at work or school and only a select few are home. We quietly scurry to my room.

I carefully close the door and turn around to see the room full of boxes. I grab the bag from under my bed and shove the knife from under my pillow into my bag. Fallon whines from behind me.

"Go into the bathroom and change in there, I will be right in to get my contacts" I say and she nods. Fallon trots into the bathroom and I go back to shoving random clothes into my bag. I go to my closet and pull out what I can and fold it and place it into the bag. The bathroom door opens and I throw a pair of blue penguin pyjamas at Fallon. She wraps her arms around me a few moments later.

"You wear contacts?" she whispers into ear. I nod and walk into the bathroom.

"I wear colour contacts. My eyes are not naturaly brown" I tell her as I pull the case out from it's spot under the sink. I place it carefully on top of the clothes, I also pack a few toiletries. I closed the bag and threw it on my shoulder.

"Go straight to the garage and wait for me there I need to get one last thing" I tell her quickly. She nods and runs out of the room. I run the other way and down the hallway. I come to the door and I walk in as usual.

"You returned!" the Alpha says happily as she opens her arms and comes around the desk to hug me.

"I am leaving actually, I came to grab that book that belongs to me and then I will be off" I say as I glance over the books on the shelf.

"I can't let you do that. You and that book are mine" she says suddenly angry. I turn back around and she is holding a knife like mine.

"Where did you get that?" I ask as I pull out my own.

"It doesn't concern you" she says. Suddenly an idea comes to mind.

"So I suppose you know then, don't you?" I ask. Her face twitches into a smile.

"Yes I know you are the fallen goddess and are a pure Soul Shifter, everyone knows what you are but you and we would have kept it like that if you hadn't have stepped in and sedated the thing when we had the chance to kill it" she yells the last part. I grab the book from behind me without taking my eyes off of her and her silver knife.
