Her Pride

The Pack Meeting

I feel warm. Warm and safe. I pull the blankets up and snuggle deeper into the softness. I wonder what time it is. Suddenly everything comes back to me. I panic and sit up quickly. I glance around the pale green room and relax as I see who's beside me.

Fallon lies in the bed next to me. This must be her room. The last thing I remember is opening the door and falling to the ground. I feel Fallon stirring beside me. I look down and stare into her beautiful green eyes.

"Morning" I say to her and her smile grows. She pulls me down so I am lying beside her in the soft sheets. She cuddles up to me and wraps her legs into mine.

"Morning" she mumbles and I can't help but smile. She jerks up into a sitting position like I did a few moments ago.

"You got to get dressed, my parents what to know the second you wake up" Fallon says as she throws off the covers. I roll over and sit up on the edge of the bed. Slowly I stand up on the black shag carpet.

Fallon tosses me my bag and disappears into the bathroom. I open my bag and pull out some clothes which causes something to fall to the floor with a thud. I look down as see the the familiar gold lettering. I quickly pick it up and shove it under my pillow. I pull off my clothes and slide into my new ones before Fallon can get back.

I jump as a knock comes from the door. I turn to face it and let out a breath as I realize what happened. I hear the shower turn on and I begin to panic. Fallon probably won't be coming to her the door. I take a breath and walk over to it. I pull open the door and to my relief I see Fallon's parents.

"Hello Ember, we were just coming to check and see if you had awoken yet" The Alpha says with surprise. They walk inside and sit on the bed.

"We want to know what happened. You collapsed of exhaustion and have been out for about a day" Mrs. Breen says softly. I nod and take a deep breath, this will take a while.

"You sent me off the property and I made it into the forest across the street when I saw their car drive past. The forest on that side is very open so they saw me and I started running. I mumbled something and after a moment of confusion from all of us they started shooting at me so I let my panther take over. She wasn't fast enough but I felt myself change and I was faster. I felt another change and I was flying. So I turned back and felt another change and I flew faster and easier. I landed on the roof and turned myself into a mouse and ran across the roof and I feel down the rain gutter. I changed back into a human and came inside" I explain. By now Fallon has come and sit with her parents. All three of them share at me with a shocked face.

"You? But you? You were a cat last time!" the Alpha finally blurts out.

"Yes, I didn't know at the time or I would have told you. I told you know because you have a right to know. I am under your roof and mates with your daughter, it wouldn't be right"

"So your a soul shifter" Fallon says.

"Yes I am. That's why my old Pride wants me back. I am special because I am supposed to stop a war. I suspect that they want the war though and if I go back there they would either kill me or keep me in chains forever" I say strongly.

"You can stay as long as you like. But the second you become a threat to our Pack you have to leave" Mrs. Breen says.

"I understand" I say as I nod slightly. Smiles light up their faces and Fallon's parents look at each other with a knowing look. The look that they shared makes me a little uneasy but I dismiss it for now.

"You said something about mumbling words and everyone became disoriented, what did you say?" the Alpha asks.

"I said 'I Ember Scott release myself from the Northwest Cougar Pride'" I repeat. The Alpha looks shocked.
