Into the Woods

The soft rays of sunshine hits his face in a warm glow, coaxing him out of the deep sleep he's in for who knows how long. Fluttering his eyes open, he looked around him, taking as much as his limited vision could provide, hoping to see anything familiar to him but to no avail. He tried to stand up but a firm yet gentle voice has commanded him to do otherwise.

"Don't move."

He didn't know why but the voice sounded so familiar to him, making him feel like home despite the place looking so hostile to him. A lot of questions came running through his mind but he felt an unexplainable surge of peace come through his senses the moment he felt her hands touching his bare chest.

Looking down to where her skin met his, he almost lost consciousness as he saw the gaping wound running across his shoulder blade down to his right rib. He wasn't really that knowledgeable when it comes to medicine but he knew that a wound like that should've caused him to bleed to death.

Yet it didn't.

Surprisingly so, he squinted his eyes way too many times as he watched the wound closing up slowly, just in the rhythm of how her hands roam around his chest. He watched there dumbfounded, knowing he had just witnessed something so close to impossible happen before his eyes.

He was well aware of those things since he was a child. He knew back then that they aren't the only ones living in this world. There are others - special ones - that he used to hear only in his bedtime stories. He knew he shouldn't be this overwhelmed but who could blame him when it was his first time seeing one? And a very beautiful one at that.

He didn't mean to stare but never in his life has he seen someone look so divine (and mind you, that was just his description of her with her face almost entirely shrouded by her platinum blonde locks). He itched to stretch out a hand and tuck every loose strand of gorgeous silk behind her ear just so he could see a glimpse of the beauty before him.

He was brought out of his daydream when he felt cold as her hands finally left his skin. The movement of the bed indicates her departure but he was quick to his senses now, quicker for he had made it a mission to see her properly in all her enchanting glory.

Before he could utter a word, she beat him to it, voice sounding like a sweet melody to him. "I brought you spare clothes as the ones you've had had been tattered due to your fall. Once you've changed, follow that path and it will lead you back to where you came from."

She took a step forward, leading to what he presumed to be a door out of this magical cabin but he was already up and grabbing her hand before she could take another. He felt her stiffen under his touch, like he had intruded her personal space which he assumed that maybe he had. With a quick apology, he tried not to stumble upon his words as he finally, finally had a glimpse of her face.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to be so straightforward but I...I just want to say thank you f-for saving me. I didn't know what actually happened. I just remembered I was looking for something in the woods and it started to snow so hard and...and I-"

"Safe to say you've fallen off a steep slope after you scared off your own horse back to the castle."

He still hasn't seen her face fully but he knew, he knew she was gracing her face with a teasing smile.

He can't help but have a smile of his own as he replied, "That bad, huh?"

"Well, I think it's better than when you almost crushed me in your arms last night when I tended your wounds."
