GAME OVER
The two words flashed on the screen for the nth time that afternoon. Both boys letting out a collective sigh as they both plopped down on the couch. It's a Saturday, and since Barry and Caitlin made up that week, Cisco and Barry decided to have a celebratory gaming marathon at the former's place. However, the latter doesn't seem to be in a celebratory mood at all.
"Aww, dude, come on!" Cisco whined, looking at the stats after the game.
"Sorry, man, I-I'm trying my best!" Barry defended, scratching the back of his neck as he tried to be in a cheerful mood.
"No, you're not. You're distracted, and we both know it."
"I..." He sighed. There's no point in denying it anyway since they've been on a losing streak since they started playing. "I'm sorry, there's-there's a lot going on in my mind right now."
"By a lot, you mean, Caitlin?" Cisco gave him a look.
"What? No!" He immediately denied, looking at his friend incredulously. "W-why would I think of Cait?" Barry averted his gaze. He knew how inquisitive Cisco can be. "Besides...she's probably enjoying herself right now." He mumbled, unable to hide his feelings.
It's a Saturday.
It's the Saturday that he's been dreading of. It's the day that if he had powers, he'll make the calendar skip this day. It's the day that his Caitlin is going out with Ronnie Raymond. Wait, did he just call her his? Good heavens.
"Yeah. Based on the hint I got from Ronnie, they're probably having the best time of their lives watching motocross racers." Cisco paused, gauging his friend's reaction. Oooh, this is gonna be good. "Due to the thrill of the sport, they're probably holding hands... staring into each others' eyes...kissi-"
"They can't!" Barry blurted out, his head whipping to Cisco's direction at the other end of the couch.
"What do you mean, they can't?" Cisco inwardly smirked. He's getting the reaction he wants and more. He's too tired of seeing his two best friends being oblivious to their feelings, and now that he's finally seeing some hope, he'll definitely take that chance. "They're on a date, things like that tend to happen."
"No!" He replied, surprising himself with the tone of his own voice. He cleared his throat, trying to calm himself down. "I-I mean, no, they can't be in a motocross park. It's dangerous, a-and accidents happen all the time, and what if something happens? What if-"
"Oh, something will happen, alright. I just know that Ronnie's the kind of guy who would never pass up the chance to-"
"Cisco!" He groaned, falling back to the couch as he frustratedly ran his hands over his face. It didn't help that he's already anxious about the whole ordeal. And now that Cisco is feeding him visual cues of the possible events happening with Caitlin and Ronnie, he just can't take it anymore. Ugh, is this...is this what he thinks it is? Is he...jea-no! No. He's just concerned, that's all.
Lies.
"What? I'm just saying." Cisco shrugged. By Barry's reactions, he knew his plan is slowly working. "What got you so worked up?"
"I'm not!" He huffed. "I...I'm just worried."
"I don't think worried is the right term, dude."
"Of course, I'm worried. Cait doesn't always go out with other people. What if-what if Ronnie is a bad guy? What if he takes advantage of Cait and-and we're just sitting here playing video games not having a clue as-"
He was cut off by Cisco's laughter. When the long-haired man thought that this is going to be interesting, he didn't know it'll be this hilarious. Oh, if only Barry could see his face.
