You have chosen to spit in the vampires face.
Quickly, you spit in the vampire's face and its grip loosens ever so slightly due to the shock; you use this to your advantage as you duck out of its grip and begin to run. You quickly glance around the room for Derek and pull him up with you, Derek seems to break out of his trance as he abruptly begins to sprint behind you. You don't have time to let out a sigh of relief because in a flash, the vampire is in front of you again but this time Derek is expecting it and launches a powerful punch towards its face.
CRACK! You jump back in surprise and cast an astounding look at Derek, Derek must have underestimated the strength required to actually punch a vampire because he just broke his hand. The vampire still stumbles back stunned by Derek's courage and you can't help but notice the meritorious look upon its face. The look of admiration is short-lived as the vampire quickly grabs Derek and pulls him flush against his cold, unmoving chest; Derek's face is filled with terror as he glances pleadingly at you with tears glistening his vision. You see Derek's chest breathing in and out heavily and you can't help the selfish thought that you could be in Derek's position as a small spark of guilty relief fills you. But alas, you are not.
The vampire suddenly jerks Derek's head to the side, exposing his neck - Derek shakes and tightly closes his eyes, awaiting his expected death. You see the vampires' eyes darken with hunger as his glistening chalk-white fangs extend ferociously from his mouth and he leans closer to Derek's neck. Dereks quick and shallow breaths fill your ears once again as he glances upwards towards you with his terror-stricken eyes and you notice him slowly mouth the word "Please" up at you as tears now stream freely down his face. You are completely heartbroken and indecisive at what to do but you know what choice he'd make if you had exchanged positions - but what choice will you make? You take in several deep breaths and know that you will need to choose your next move very carefully. Derek's life is quite literally in your hands...
