You chose to wait for Derek to do something
Putrid, warm breath fills your nostrils as the vampire gets closer to your neck yet still you trust Derek will do something, maybe you shouldn't have but then again, what reason do you have to doubt Derek? You can't help the guilty feeling of doubt that now overcomes you regarding your decision as you squint your eyes shut and hold your breath.
All of a sudden, you hear the vampire above you hiss and collapse to the floor holding its temple. You glance around to see why as the smell of burning flesh overcomes you and notice Derek smiling smugly to himself as he holds up a mirror that the sunlight is reflecting off from above him - maybe you shouldn't have doubted Derek. Swiftly, you push the wailing vampire off of you as you begin to hear rushing footsteps once more. Derek rushes over to you and you throw one of your arms around his shoulder as he helps you up; it seems as though the adrenaline coursing through your veins has dulled whatever that cracking sound was responsible for, I doubt you'd want to know. You and Derek begin running through the trees once more ignoring the screeching of your muscles begging you to rest; you don't realise how long you've been running for until you notice that night has fallen, which is not a good thing. Derek turns to you, pointing out a metal bar hidden in the ground, and says that you both need to rest otherwise what chances will you have at fighting off the vampires, he also points out that you are injured. The pain hits you like a brick wall as you realise you may have one or two broken ribs from being thrown into the tree, you begin to keel over as the pain intensifies. Derek grabs hold of you and tells you that it's your call,
What do you want to do?
