Bang! Bang! Bang!
I'm startled awake by loud banging on the door. I look over and see Kye getting up from the couch and putting his shirt on, as he puts it on I catch a glimpse of his abs and my breath catches and I gasp.
Kye looks at me and ask, "See something you like?" He has one eyebrow arched in a sexy way and a try gulping down the lump in my throat, but it's to no avail. He starts slowly walking towards me like a predator stalking his prey. I don't know how or when, but he's right in front of me, not even two inches away from my face when we hear that loud banging again, causing him to pull away reluctantly.
"Stay hidden," Kye says as he walks towards the door.
Instead of hiding like he said to do, I decide to get out of the bed and watch him answer the door, realizing I couldn't see him from the room I was in, I decide to step into a nearby hallway where I'd have perfect view of the door, but most likely wouldn't be seen either. Kye opens the door and a girl barges in.
"Kye, we have an emergency," Kye tenses up instantly.
"What is it, Nica?"
"Roden, he's dying. Without him we have no ruler and the faeries can't survive without one and there's no one of the ruling family left, that can rule. Liam is not allowed to or able to take over the thrown. He's a danger to the faeries and was rejected when they tried to put him on the thrown last month. Even though he still tries to claim to be King and as far as the world is concerned he is King but in reality that title still belongs to Roden. Tatiana is too young to survive the coronation test and ceremony . Then of course there's Jay. He might be the son of the former Queen, but he is no royal," The girl, Nica said.
"How long? How long do we have?" Kye seems stressed to me.
"Two months at the most."
"Alright. We have time. I'm sure there's some others, even if they are long distance royals that could take the thrown."
"There aren't. We've checked the ancestors of all the faeries in the kingdom. There are none who could take the thrown," That's when despite my better judgement I decide to show my face.
"Genevie, I mean Piper. What are you doing?" Kye said, trying to cover the fact that he just started to say name.
"Genevie? As in Genevieve? As in the daughter of the true King and Queen. She's a duplicate of her mother, but with her father's eyes. I can't believe she's alive. We have our Queen, meaning we won't die."
"She's only fifteen, Nica."
"Where have you been hiding her these past fifteen years? Seriously Kye, you've kept our rightful-"
"Safe. I've kept her safe."
"Well, yeah, I guess you did do that, but we've needed her. Roden was only ever meant to be a temporary King, it's a wonder he survived this long on the thrown without it draining him. He won't last much long as long as he's King. The only way to save him is to put another on the thrown."
"What about Taylor?" I say, not really wanting to be Queen just yet. Plus if it's going to be out that I'm alive and well, then I think it's also time for Taylor to make her depute.
"Taylor? Taylor who?"
"My twin sister."
"Well, now that that's out in the open. It seems as if it's time. We can't hold it off any longer. The Princesses have been revealed, meaning the darkness is upon us and I believe that those of immense power are going to be drawn here within the week. Genevieve, the five are coming, so we're about to find out who the others are. Though only four others will show up," Kye stated.
