Chapter 21: "Would you like fries with that?"

    (Lani's POV)

    Jack and I walked back into the loft and saw Jacob from Lacy's pack lying on the couch bleeding.

"What happened?!" I asked.

"We don't know, but its bad." Derek said.

"No kidding." I responded.

"Why was my brother with you?" Lacy asked.

"We just went for a walk." I said.

"Lacy look at my eyes!" Jack said. He started walking to her but I grabbed his arm and he looked at me.

"Jack no. You'll get me in trouble." I whispered.

"Jack? Let me see." Lacy said, sending me an evil glare. Jack looked at her and his eyes lit up a bright yellow.

"YOU PUT HIM IN YOUR PACK?!??!" Lacy screamed.

"He asked me to!"

"Jack you know your not suppose to join any packs without mine or Trace's permission!" Lacy said.

"But her pack is so cool!" He said. "All you have is a bunch of old people and your boyfriends!" I Looked back at Lacy and had to put my hand over my mouth to hide my laughter.

"What's so good about her pack?" Lacy asked.

"Well she has nine people in her pack. She has Scott and Stiles and Liam and all of them, and they are so cool, she told me about when you took her friend, the tall one, and she got him back, and her pack always wins and yours loses." Jack said.

"It's traditional to be in your families pack." Lacy said. "You have to."

"No I don't!" Jack said. Lacy started coming toward him and He ran behind me.

"Looks like he chooses his Alpha." I said.

"He can NOT be in your pack, I'll tell my parents."

"Like they'll do anything. I haven't seen them since we tried to murder you in the Mountain ash bubble. I don't even think they care anymore."

"Give him to me!" She snapped.

"Do not touch my Beta." I said. "I will train him in combat and skill, something you obviously don't care about."

"Yes I do." She said.

"If you cared your pack would've beat mine to the ground by now. Its a bunch of older more powerful Alphas against a group of teenagers. And the teenagers are winning." I said. "Plus I have Derek and Peter on my side too."

"Oh you just wait. Have you not realized that I'm the most powerful werewolf like ever?" She asked.

"Have you realized that I don't care?" I said back. She looked at me, rage filling her eyes. "Your boyfriends dying, I think I'd be focusing on him If I were you."

"He's not my boyfriend!" She said.

"Whatever. Tomorrow starts Jack's training, and If you have a problem with it I suggest you keep it to yourself."

"Oh you little-"

"Cussing doesn't make anything better. It just makes my hate you more than I already do!" I said. I then walked up the stairs, Jack trotting along behind me.

(The next day)

I woke up at 5:00am and peered over the side of my bed at Jack, who was sleeping soundly on a pallet in the floor.

"Jack." I said, shaking him a little bit. "Jack, its time to go to your Training."

"It's too early." He complained.

"That's the point, we can leave before your bratty sister chews me out again." I said. We were both up and outside in 20 minutes.

"Is the whole pack coming to my training?" He asked.

"Yes." I said. "Everyone in the pack is talented in one thing or another, so we're all going to teach you some things so you can be super powerful. Maybe even an Alpha one day."

"Really?" He asked.

"Yeah." I responded. We made it to my packs meeting place and everyone was already there.

"Hey guys." I said. "This is Jack. He's the new Beta."

"Awesome." Cora said. We practiced for hours on end, teaching him advanced combat skills and some ordinary werewolf knowledge, like how to tell a Beta from an Alpha and what wolfsbane looks like and how it effects us. It was just past 3:00 in the afternoon, and we decided to go to the small café that was just put across the street from Derek's loft. We all went and ate and talked more about our werewolf stuff, but only because we were the only customers there at that time, and we always had a lookout for waiters. Right before we were going to leave, Lacy, and Noah came in and sat at a table across from us.

"Okay that's just absurd." I said.

"Is she really that desperate?" Erika asked.

"Apparently." We paid the waiter and left as soon as possible. Right before I made it out the door Lacy grabbed my shoulder and spun me around.

"Give me my brother." She said.

"Would you like fries with that?" I asked sarcastically.

"Let me try that again." She said, then slammed me down on a table. "Give me my brother now!"

"Your efforts are adorable." I said. Isaac came up behind her and threw her into one of the brick walls, cracking a few bricks.

"One day she'll learn." I said, walking back outside with my pack.
