Accidental Romance

~Dib's POV~

     The word "pathetic" echoed through my mind all through class. Only the sound of the bell ringing snapped me back to reality.
     "Break time" the teacher stayed blandly.
     I stood up quickly, knocking my chair over in the process. I ignored my clumsy action and walked quickly out of the classroom and to the playground.
     I sat on the swing and pushed myself back and forth. The swingset creaked with every movement, hinting that it was rather old.
     I suddenly felt someone push me. Not in a gentle way like they wanted to propel me, but roughly, causing me to fall on and crash face first onto the ground.
     "Oops!" I heard a familiar voice say sarcastically.
     "Hi Zim..." I said quietly, still on the ground.
     "Silence!" He growled.
     I attempted to stand up but he pushed me back down harshly.
     I looked around the playground for help but everyone seemed scared of Zim.
     I tried once again to stand up and wasn't stopped this time. He simply smirked.
     "WATCH OUT!" I suddenly heard a voice say, I didn't have time to look before I was struck in the head with a dodgeball. The impact caused me to be knocked forward, directly into Zim. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as I watched my self fall forward and my lips crash into Zim's.

                      ~Zim's POV~

     I was at a loss for words. This was a human way to show affection but... did it usually work like this? I don't think so...
     I was snapped back to reality when I realized that our lips were still connected. I pushed Dib off me quickly. He fell to the ground.
     "What do you think you're doing!?" I demanded.
    "I'm s-sorry, I didn't m-mean to! Please don't k-kill me!" He stammered, putting his hands up defensively.
     He looked so pitiful, I just wanted to hug him- NO WAY! I REFUSE TO FEEL SORRY FOR A HUMAN!
     I stood up abrubtly.
     "You've made an enemy today Dib"

                     ~Dib's POV~

     Zim's words sent chills through my body. He seemed to spit my name out like it was a thorn in his mouth.
     I began to cry again, not caring that everyone was staring at me.
     Everyone walked away.
     No one cared.
     No one came to help.
     "Typical" I spat. I clenched my teeth and stood up.
     Everyone here is useless! Everyone's goal is to screw me over!
     I stood up and ran, I pushed through the crowd of people. I ran into the skool and into the bathroom.
     I looked at myself in the mirror. My glasses had a crack on one of the lenses. I sighed quietly.
     "Great, just great!" I yelled. My voice bounced off the walls.
     I heard the bathroom door creak open slowly but I didn't care enough to look.
     "Dib...?" I heard Zim's voice. A wave of fear shot through me.
     The door closed slowly. I heard footsteps approaching me.
     I looked at Zim fearfully.
     "P-please don't h-hurt me..." I managed to squeak out.
     "I told you human, you made an enemy!" He said while grinning.
     He suddenly flicked my nose, not hard, but playfully.
     "H-huh...?" I said quietly.
     "Off guard!" He whispered suddenly.
     Before I could respond, he kicked my feet out from under me, causing me to fall.
     "HA! Like I said, pathetic!" He laughed.
     Tears spilled from my eyes, I stood up slowly. I forced a smile, even though I was still crying and looked him in the eyes.
     "You're right, I AM pathetic" I walked out of the bathroom before he could respond.
     Yeah, pathetic...
