Chapter 1

I woke up to the door slamming shut, an I knew right away who was home. I shot up out of bed walking over to my door. I stepped outside of Emily and my room, and instantly was punch directly in the jaw.

I felt the pain surge through my jaw, I swallowed hard fitting off the tears knowing it would make it worse.

"What the hell do u think your doing out of bed?" Cody said tightening his grip on my wrist.

"I just came to see how you were." I lied acting like I cared.

"Liar, now go to my room!" he yelled in my face.

I walked down the hall to his room, he shut the door behind him staring at me intensely. He started moving towards me pushing me on the bed.

"Your gonna let me do this and you won't make a sound. Got it?" Cody said whispering into my ear.

I shook my head up and down. He started taking off his clothes and mine. At first I fought him, until he started hitting me repeatedly. After three more hits to the face, everything started going black.

I woke up in my room on the floor laying next to Emily's bed. She wasn't moving, I tried to get up but i was to weak to move. I felt my phone in my pocket. I painfully shifted my body and reached for my phone.

I texted: HELP!! ME AND EMILY NEED UR HELP AND FAST!! LOVE KATIE!

I sent it, and laid my head on the floor and cried. I knew I couldn't fall asleep, cause I could have a concussion, instead I scooted towards Em's bed. It hurt so bad to see her bruised and cut in so many places. This is all my fault, if I wouldn't have fought Cody he would have never done this to her.

I heard a car door shut, and the front door swing open. I heard the voice I have been missing for the past 3 years.

"Katie where are you? I'm not here to hurt you." He yelled through out the house.

"Up here. We are in my bedroom." I screamed just as loud as he was.

The soft foot steps coming towards my door was a sigh of relief.

He walked in, he started to cry but I stopped him.

"Austin please don't. Not now, I'll be fine we just need to call the cops and get the hell..." I was cut off from the front door closing.

Austin put one finger to his lips telling me to be quiet. I nodded in agreement.

"Katie who do you have over. I thought I told you about having people over without me." Cody yelled trying to find me.

Austin walked to my closet and pulled out my softball bat. He slowly pulled the door open. He stepped out shutting the door behind him.

I heard yelling and banging, then everything went silent. The door handle moved and I held my breath, someone walked in, thank the lord it was Austin.

"I already called the cops on my way here. C'mon lets go outside." He said with blood coming from his eyebrow, lip, and nose.

He helped me up, then walked over to Em and picked her up. Her body went limp in Austin's arms. I automatically started to cry. He moved his head forward, telling me I need to start moving.

It hurt to stand, hurt to walk, hurt to even talk. As I approached the stairs, I took the first one but soon fell because my body couldn't hold me anymore. Austin ran down the stairs and laid Em by the door. He quickly ran back up the stairs, and lifted me up bridal style and carried me outside.

He sat me by his car, and I waited for him to come back with Em. He brought her out, laying her across my lap. Austin sat right next to me putting his arm around my waist.

"This is all my fault!" I cried into his chest.

"Hey! no it's not. Don't blame this on yourself." He said rubbing my arm slowly.

"Yes it is. If I wouldn't have fought him, he would have never touched Em." I said looking up into his sad green eyes.

"This is not your fault, do you understand. There was no way in preventing this and you know that. So please Katie, stop blaming yourself." He said as a tear slide down his plump read cheeks.

"Ok I will stop." I said as I wiped his tears away.

The rest of the time, I laid on Austin's chest, rubbing Em's head. While Austin held me tight, letting me know I was safe. We waited in silence, until the cops came.
