Afraid

Chapter 2

The cops finally showed up thirty minutes later. Em had finally woke up, but was confused and in a lot of pain. Em was only 5 so she didn't get what had happened.

Austin had never left my side. The cops took Austin over to the side for questioning as me and Em were being tested by the paramedics. The paramedic told me I had 5 bruised ribs from falling on the stairs, but other than that I was fine. The paramedic looked at me with sad eyes and she told me, that they need to get Em to the hospital soon. I walked over to Austin and Dave. Dave was a cop, he was questioning Austin.

"Hey sorry for interrupting but, I would like Austin to come with me to the hospital." I said putting my hand on Austin's lower back, rubbing small circles on it.

"We just finished talking. Austin won't be charged with anything, cause it is classified as self defense." Dave said with a sad smile and eyes, as he looked at all my bleeding cuts and bruises.

I have known Dave as long a I had known Austin. He was like a brother to me. I loved Dave.

"Ok, well Austin we have to go now. Something is really wrong with Em." I said holding back the tears.

"Ok, let's go." He said lifting me up noticing how slow an painfully I was walking.

As he grabbed me underneath my knees I winced from the pain. He looked into my eyes, with tears at the edges of his.

"Austin, trust me I'll be fine. I only have bruised ribs that's it. Em is worse than me though, so please worry about her not me." I said as he hopped into the ambulance with me still in his arms.

"You promise? You aren't joking?" he asked with concerned eyes.

"She will be fine, it's Em we are worried about." The beautiful blonde medic said.

As we drove to the hospital, they put IV's in her arms. They put oxygen on her and I just sat there looking at them, not being able to do anything.

I leaned on Austin's shoulder, and he put his arm around my shoulders. He put his head on my head, and I let a tear slip down my cheek. It fell into his hand, and he reached his hand over to mine intertwining our fingers. He squeezed my hand every once in a while telling me that he was here and he wasn't going anywhere.

Even though Austin and I weren't dating, I still loved him the I would even if we were.

As we arrived at the hospital. I walked along side Em until they told me I couldn't go any farther. I ran into Austin's arms and cried all the tears I could.

We waited 4 hours in the waiting room until the doctor came out to tell us the news.

He walked over to us with a smile, so I new that she was going to be ok eventually.

"Hi my name is Dr. Smith. I've been the one looking after your sister. Right now I have good news and bad news. Which would you two like first?" He asked looking at Austin, then me, then back to Austin.

"The good news," Austin said with his head down. I tried to talk but I just couldn't so he did for me.

"Em only suffered minor injuries. but as we were running tests we saw that her skull was fractured. We had to rush her into surgery to fix the fracture. She will be fine in a couple of days when you will be able to take her home." He said standing up to shake our hands.

"When can we see her?" Austin had asked with tears streaming down his face.

"She's awake now, you can go see her if you like."

Since I was sitting for 4 long hours, I could barely walk. Austin had noticed that I was hurting.

"Get on!" He said as he stepped in front of me. I didn't refuse the offer.

As we walked into Em's room, Austin was still carrying me. He set me down on her bed and walked to the other side. She had tubes all over her, her head was rapped and her hair was gone.

As soon as Austin sat down on the bed, she turned on her side and cuddle right into Austin and cried.

I don't want another pretty face.

I don't want just anyone to hold.

I don't want my love to go to waste

I just want you and your beautiful soul.

Austin sang to Em and she stopped crying, and he breaths became heavy, and I knew that she was asleep.

I scooted closer to Em and wrapped my arms around her, hold her tight. Austin brought his hand into mine and kissed my forehead.

"Katie?" Austin asked looking at me.

"Yes Austin?" I asked with a questioning tone.

"I just want to say that, I was glad you texted me. I've been waiting to hear from you for the past three years. I was worried about you, and to know that you are now safe is amazing. I also wanted to let you know that I have been in love with you since the first day I met you. I want to be with you Katie Larson. I truly do!" he said looking at me with tears rolling down his face.

"I love you too. I want to be with you also. I've missed you for the three years you were gone. It was so hard for me. I love you Austin Carter Mahone." I said while whipping his tears, and letting mine roll down my cheeks.

"Katie will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" he asked with lust in his eyes.

"Yes!" I said with excitement while leaning into him to kiss him.
