Breaking Down

Chapter 6

The next morning I woke up laying on Austin's chest. I couldn't stop thinking about the horrible news that I found out yesterday. I decided to get out of bed and take a shower.

I went to the dresser and picked out the comfiest clothes that were there. My favorite pair of black sweatpants, and an old shirt of Austin's he gave me.

I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I got undressed and hopped right in. The warm rush of the water felt amazing running down my sore body.

After 30 minutes of just standing in the warm water. I got out and dried off. As I was drying off, I started to get dizzy, I brushed it off thinking it was nothing. My knee's buckled and I fell to the floor.

"AUSTIN! AUSTIN!" I screamed his name twice as loud as I possibly could.

I heard the rustle of bed sheets then his heaving steps coming towards the bathroom.

"Katie! What happened?" he asked as he wrapped his still warm arms around me, helping me up.

"I was just trying to take a shower, but started to get dizzy and fell." I explained. Pulling on my sweatpants.

"Babe you know you aren't supposed to take one by yourself until your better." He said brushing my hair for me. I looked at how long it was, knowing that it would be all gone in a couple of months.

"I know but you looked so peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to wake you up. I'm sorry." I said turning around in his arms.

"It's ok. Let's just get you back in bed." He said while picking me up like I was 5.

I loved when he carried me. He set me down on the bed, and covered me up.

"Hold on, scoot forward." He said helping me move.

I moved forward confused, until he came and sat behind me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and laid his hands on my stomach.

"Austin?" I asked looking up into his eyes.

"Yes baby?" he asked so confused I laughed.

"Will you stay with me even when I loose all my hair and look ugly?" I asked as a tear slide down my cheek.

"Babe, I will be with you no matter what happens. You will still look amazingly beautiful without your hair. I will love you with all my heart."

"Good, cause I never want you to leave me ever again. I love you with all my heart." I leaned up and kissed his cheek.

We sat like that for about an hour until a nurse came in.

"Hi, my name is Samantha. I will be the nurse that takes care of you until your better. It's nice to meet you." She said shaking mine and Austin's hands.

She was a beautiful, blonde, tan girl. I automatically got jealous when they touched hands. I grabbed Austin's other hand and squeezed lightly.

"Babe what's wrong?" he whispered in my ear. He knew whenever I squeezed his hand something was wrong.

"I'll tell you later." I said releasing my grip a little.

"Ok, I have to change you IV drips so we can start your medication tomorrow. I have to take some blood so we know how much to give to you." She said pulling out gloves, a stretchy band, a needle, a class tube, and gauze.

"This may hurt. It's just a little pinch." She said as she put the needle in my arm.

Austin move his arms around my waist as I winced in pain. He knows just what to do when I'm in pain.

Samantha finished my blood work and said she'd be back tonight with the results.

"Ok, now tell me why you gripped my hand tightly earlier." He said into my ear right after the door shut.

"I don't like her. I'm jealous, she is beautiful and in a few months you may not want me anymore. That's why. I'm jealous and I don't want to loose you." I said breaking down in tears.

I just couldn't handle everything anymore. I let everything out, I cried into Austin's chest, he rubbed my back as he spoke.

"Katie look at me, I will always want you. In a few weeks, in a few months, even in a few years! I love you Katie and trust me that nurse Samantha is not my type at all. You have nothing to worry about. She wasn't even that cute anyways. Plus she looked like 25 years old. I'm only 16." He said with a smirk on his face.

I just laughed. "You promise you will never leave. And she did look 25 years old." I laughed at my own joke and kissed Austin lightly.

"I promise!" he said kissing me back twice more before I laid on his chest.

He sang to me to put me to sleep.

I listened to him sing, and I soon needed a nap. I listened to his soothing voice and let sleep over take my body.
