Broken

Chapter 4

~Austin's P.O.V~

They told me I had to wait in the waiting as the ran tests and made sure Katie was ok.

After and hour of waiting Emily had fallen asleep in my arms. Everybody became restless and tired.

"You know you guys can go home. Ill be fine. Ill call you when I find stuff out." I said looking around the waiting room at everyone who had showed up.

My whole family knew Emily and Katie. They cared about them so much. Dave, my mom, Alex, Zach, Robert, Mema, Grandad, and my aunt Lisa, had all shown up when my mom called them.

"Ok. I'm going to take everyone home, to our house. You sure you'll be fine here alone?" my mom asked as she pried Em out of my arms.

"Yes mom." I said kissing Em on the four head before letting her go.

It was another 4 hours until a doctor came out and talked to me.

"Hi, I'm Dr. Martin. You must be Austin. How re you?" he asked shaking my hand.

"I'm not good. How is she? Will she be alright? Did I loose my girlfriend?" I asked all with tears coming down my face.

"Austin why don't you take a seat and calm down. This my take a while to explain." He pointed to a chair in the corner. I sat down, putting my hands together, while waiting for news.

"When she was in Chicago, and had bruised her ribs, she also broke one. She never had X-rays so he never knew. When she never got treatment it trust got worse and worse. When she tried to pick up Emily off the plan..." he stopped for a moment then continued. "The broken part of the rib and shifted and punctured her kidney. Causing bleeding. You brought her here just in time. We had to rush her into surgery and stop the bleeding. We where very successful on that." He said telling me everything. I started to cry but soon stopped.

"When can I see her?" I mumbled still sniffling.

"She's awake now, I can take you back to see her." Dr. Martin told me.

I followed him back to Katie's room. I braced myself for what I might see when I walk into her room. I took a deep breath and turned the handle.

As I walked into the room, I saw wires, tubes, and machines all over her room. I put my hand over my mouth to quiet my gasp.

I walked up to Katie's bed slowly. She was just drifting off to sleep when I had walked in the room. I sat on the side of her bed, trying not to wake her, but I had failed.

~Katie's P.O.V~

I had woken up in so much pain. Nobody was in my room with me. I was scared if hospitals and never liked being alone. I took a deep breath but as I did so, I remembered about my ribs and cried out in pain.

I decided I'd just go back to sleep, so I wouldn't have to deal with the pain. Just before I sleep over took my body, I felt the bed sink down behind me.

I rolled over an rubbed my eyes, looking up to see the one person I have thought about this whole time I have been awake.

"Austin!" I cried into his chest as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Shhh don't talk to much. Try and go back to sleep. " Austin said rubbing my back to calm me down.

"I can't unless you sing to me. " I said with my lower lip puffed out, and puppy dog eyes.

"Whatever will help mg beautiful girlfriend sleep!" he said kissing the top of my head.

I was praying that you and me might end up together...

I fell asleep right after he said my favorite line of the song.
