Chapter 8

*Austin's P.O.V.*

I woke up to a nurse shaking me awake out of a deep sleep.

"Austin please get up, we need you off the bed now!" Samantha yelled pulling me out of the bed.

"What the hell is going on?! Sam your scarring me." I said as my body started to shake.

There was about 10 nurses in the room. They were trying to wake Katie up, she wasn't responding to anything. She just late there on the bed with her eyes closed.

"Katie! Katie!! KATIE!!" I started to scream, "Baby please wake up!"

There was a long loud beeping noise coming from the machine in the corner.

"She's flat lining. We need to get her to surgery now!" The doctor said unhooking her from the machines and wheeled her out the door.

I was in shock, I just stood by the window not knowing what to do. I felt my body jerk into motion. I ran down the hallway looking everywhere for her. I couldn't find her, I tried pinching myself to see if it was a dream, but sadly it wasn't. This was all real.

I whipped out my phone and dialed my moms number faster than I ever had before.

*Phone Convo*

Me: Mom! You there?!

Mom: Yes honey. What's wrong?

Me: It's Katie, they just rushed her into surgery!

Mom: Austin I'm so sorry! I'm on my way now. Be there in 10 minutes.

*Hung up the phone*

I called Alex, Robert, Zach, Dave, and my Aunt Lisa. They all got here in 10 minute tops. When I saw my mom I just broke down. I couldn't hold myself together anymore. I fell into her arms an let the tears rush out.

We didn't know what was happening for almost 5 hours. I never say down, I paced the waiting room at least 100 times.

The doctor finally came out to tell us what was going on.

"We are sorry we scarred you earlier Austin. But what happened was that the tumor in her brain was causing a blood clot. We had to rush her into surgery right away to fix the problem. She is in recovery now. She should be waking up in the next few hours." He explained that like it wasn't bad.

"Can we go see her?" The only thing I could think of was seeing her.

"Yes you may. Here is her room number." He handed me a slip of paper.

I jumped out of my seat and ran down the hall to the elevators. I pushed the button and waited. As I got to recovery, I ran down the hall looking for room 314. I finally found it, I bolted through the door.

All I could do was cry. My baby was lying there with her long curly brown hair gone, a breathing tube down her throat, and machines all over the place.

I went and sat in the chair next to her bed. I grabbed her hand and whispered. "Katie stay strong. Fight for me please. Please stay with me. I love you baby!"

Tears were streaming down my face. I felt something wiggle between my fingers. I looked up and saw her staring at me.

"KATIE! YOUR AWAKE!!" I screamed and cried even harder.

I ran out of the room and got Sam. She came in and took the tube out.

"Austin?" she whispered.

"Yes sweetie?" I came and sat in the same chair.

"Will you lay with me?"

"Of course." I crawled on so slowly trying not to hurt her.

She payed her head in my chest.

I yawned, I started to rub her back. I felt a smile creep on her face. She was actin like nothing ever even happened.

I heard her starting to sing. I couldn't figure out what song she was singing.

"Baby would you sing that a little louder please?"

"No. You know I hate singing." She snapped at me.

Same old Katie. "Please your voice soothes me."

"Fine."

She was singing "Stay" by Rihanna. She loved that song.

It was only 1:30. I had texted Alex to have everyone to come up.

They finally showed up 5 minutes later. Jeez they are slow. We sat around Katie's bed and talked for the longest amount of time. They all left as visiting hours were ending.

Katie had fallen asleep about an hour ago, and it was now my turn to do the same. I let sleep over take my body.
