When you were created, you slowly took shape inside your mother, growing larger and larger. For nine months and ten days your every need was taken care of –you had everything you wanted and got the best of everything your mumhad to offer.
After you were born, youdidn't notice immediately that anything had changed and consideredyourself to still be joined to your mother. However, as the first fewdays passed, you became dimly aware that this was not the case. Youwere a separate person. This realization was very stressful, yetnevertheless your mum was still there (hopefully!) She fed you, bathed you and looked after you as best she could and so life wenton.
However, as time went on,you noticed that there were delays in receiving what you wanted, noteverything was available, there was only a certain amount availableof what there was and there were other people who needed it, too.Standards of service had definitely slipped since back in the dayswhen you were inside your mum and this truth was uncomfortable toyou. There was anxiety, uncertainty, suffering and pain, competitionwith others, seemingly needless worries and a huge amount ofapparently random events and lots of junk with no meaning. What's allthis, eh?
Once you were old enoughto figure out what was fairly regular and normal (probably by the ageof five or younger), you tried to think about this in an attempt toMINIMIZE PAIN and REDUCE STRESS. You created in yourmind an idea of why the world is the way it is (what psychologistscall a construct).
THIS IS WHERE YOU WENTWRONG. This is where most people chose the option that basicallysays, "I am going to be poor and average for the rest ofmy life".
So what did you choose?
Most children focus onthe PAIN and STRESS and believe that it is caused byNOT HAVING ENOUGH. They think that the reason why there ispain and suffering in the world is because there is not enough stufffor everybody. If only you could go back to the good old days insideyour mum when you could have everything you wanted! So you tried tospend your life avoiding pain by getting as much stuff as possible. You believed that the world needs to give you stuff for you to liveyour life the way you want. So life for you is a constant attempt toget what is necessary from the world to live a life that you canhandle. THIS IS THE CONSTRUCT BELIEVED BY MOST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.You know what? It's total garbage from start to finish.
However, there is asmaller group of children who think differently. They thought theopposite. They focus on NOT HAVING ENOUGH and think that itcauses the PAIN and STRESS. So they figured that if youstop not having enough, the pain and stress would go away. So theytried to spend their lives giving stuff to the world so pain andsuffering would go away. So life for them is a constant attempt togive the world what it needs so that pain and suffering can berelieved and the world become a better place. You know what? They'reabsolutely right.
So that's why we live ina world of left-wingers vs. right-wingers, capitalists andCommunists, rich and poor, haves and have nots. If you are among thehave nots, then it all boils down to the mental outlook and attitudeyou developed from the construct you chose way back when you were alittle baby. The good news is – YOU CAN CHANGE IT!
