I whined as Yiannis beat me out of the tree line, my legs burning as I desperately tried to beat him- it just wouldn’t happen though and the bastard knew it. He sat on the back stairs watching me with a satisfied glint in his eyes as I slowed to a walk, my chest heaving.

He’d beaten me before I even shook his hand, but I was too stupid to see it- I never could back down. I noticed a pile of clothes that had been laid out and took a shirt and a pair of jeans in my mouth before walking away from Yiannis with a huff.

I quickly got dressed behind a tree and emerged to see Yiannis standing on the stairs in a pair of jeans waiting for me- no shirt, though a part of me really didn’t mind seeing his chest bared.

I went to walk up the stairs but he pinned me against the wall, a hand next to each side of my face, his breath hitting my cheek. “We had a deal Evan.”

My eyes narrowed at his gleeful grin and I pushed him away. “I know, but let’s get on things straight- I won’t do anything even mildly sexual.”

“Not even a kiss?” He puckered his lips and his face slowly descended. I held up my hand before he could kiss me, instead kissing my hand.

Little tingles spread across my skin before I quickly pulled it away. “In your dreams.” I could still feel the tingles as I shook my hand to get rid of the disconcerting feeling- I shouldn’t be feeling those things for him, for anyone.

He chuckled and moved to place a heated kiss on the place he’d bitten me. “We do more than kiss in my dreams love.” He whispered in my ear. I’m not going to lie and say that I didn’t imagine him in bed naked, dreaming about what he’d do to me, but I will say that I most definitely did not get Goosebumps, shivers or a racing heart- no that would mean he actually affected me.

Without a word I ducked under his arm and raced up the porch stairs, pausing outside the door to calm my racing heart. When I stepped inside the house it was utter calamity- people were everywhere, cleaning, cooking, moving furniture.

“Evan!” I was tackled to the ground and I felt myself growling, trying to push them off me before I lost control and attacked- I could feel her pushing to break free, I wouldn’t let her though. “We thought Yiannis had kidnapped you!” Kate yelled as Lennox tried to pry her off my growling form.

I heard the door open and then I smelt him. “Evan.” He growled, towering over me, staring down into my eyes as his sheer presence surrounded me. I instantly stopped growling and felt my body relax- I’d been moments away from shifting.

He helped me up and I gave Kate a small smile. “What happened while I was gone?”

“Ernest called- he’s coming home today, a few of the mares foaled and your father came everyday looking for you.” From the look on Kate’s face, he must have been very persistent.

“If he comes around again, I’ll deal with him.” Maybe if I told him to go away he would?

She smiled and squeezed my hand. “Maybe you should give him a chance Ev? He’s your father after all.”

A snarl so loud it shook the windows escaped my lips and had Kate backing away; he was not my father. I’d suffered because he couldn’t be bothered to check on the woman he’d loved, and for that I couldn’t forgive him or be bothered to give him a chance. A loud growl cut me off and then someone had grabbed me around the neck, slammed me against a wall and the monster in my head cowered.

I took deep breaths, staring into his beautiful green eyes as my heart began to stop racing in anger, and race with something entirely different. “I’m good now, sorry for lashing out.” I said to Kate who was standing behind Lennox. Everyone in the house, specifically Len were watching me like a wild animal; I guess I was. I couldn’t do this; what if I hurt someone? I care about these people and I didn’t want to imagine how I could hurt them.
