These past few weeks have been different, like really different for me. Abdulrazaq and I have been hanging out a lot.
We talk about ourselves and other things as well and it's been fun. It's weird though. It's like we're friends but at the same time it's feels like a relationship.I'm not sure if I'm making sense. It's not like he's all romantic, flirting and all that. He talks to me like we're friends who've known each other for centuries but at the same time he talks to me like I'm his future, which obviously friends don't do.
Although I've realized he barely talks about his personal life but I don't intrude and I don't push, eventually he lets me in.He did say I give the best advice and I always make him feel better, I hope it's true though.
It's been a month already since we met but it feels a-lot longer, like forever.
He parks infront of our gate.
"I hope you enjoyed yourself"I smile "I did, it was fun"
We went to his house. I met his mother and younger sister Humaira, she's just a year younger than I am but she's cool to hang out with.
"Yeah, Ma really liked you. She hardly ever likes people"
"Maybe because she's happy you're finally settling down"He chuckles "Oh, that too".
"Thank you, I had fun""I should be thanking out"
He steps out, circles round and opens my door."What a gentleman"
He smiles "Anything for my lady".
I blush."We'll talk later"
"Of course, I'll call you. Should I escort you in?"
I giggle "You really don't want me to go"He nods.
The gate door opens and Baba walks out. He smiles.
"Perfect timing".
"Huh?" I ask."I'd like to talk to you both"
I couldn't help but feel nervous.•
Abdulrazaq's POV.
I was feeling really on edge.
Sitting with this man is nothing new but now that he might actually be my father in law then it's really nerve racking. Aisha was fidgeting, I'm guessing she's nervous too."It looks like everything is going perfectly well"
"It is Alhamdulillah" I say back."Masha Allah".
He turns to Aisha "Don't you agree?"
She nods smiling "Yes it is, better than we expected"."That's what I like to hear" he says excitedly.
"So—have you two talked about your marriage?"Aisha and I look at each other.
Actually we have but rarely, we focused mostly on getting to know each other on a personal level."Or you've been too busy with each other's company you forgot?" He asks when he notices our silence "I get it, you're getting to know each other, there's nothing wrong with that".
I smile.
"Well, you should know that your wedding is in three months"Aisha gasps.
I was in shock too. Uncle Bashir never mentioned it, he told me it would be next year. She looked just as I worried as I was."You're both quiet"
I smile "The sooner the better, right?"He nods "That's good to hear. It really is"
My phone start calling the Magrib adhan "I should get going""I'll escort you"
I shake my head "It's late, I don't think you should go out, we'll talk later" I smile and walk out.
Everything is just happening too fast. It's not good at all.I hate feeling pressured but maybe it's a good thing.
•
I came out to get some air when I found Ma and Humaira outside on the porch as well.
Ma was reading a book while my sister typed away on her phone.I pull up a chair and joined them.
"I wasn't expecting to see you both out here, what's going on?"Humaira groans "Ma forced me"
I laugh "It's good that she did"She pouts and continues.
"What are you doing on your phone anyway?" Our mother asks."I'm writing a book in Wattpad, I'm a Wattpad author"
"How poetic" Ma says sarcastically.Humaira raises her head abruptly "So it was uncle Bashir that hooked you and Aisha up?"
I nod "He did"
She smiles "So you agreed to get back at Umar?"
"No, come on. That's just low. I had no idea he got along with Umar's dad. It's not like I know all his friends"."Talking about Umar, can you please tell him to stop bothering me? I feel like I'm being stalked. He told me he got my contact from a friend and he wouldn't stop calling".
"Just ignore him" I roll my eyes.
Ma sat there reading like we weren't conversing."So?" She starts excitedly "How are you and my sister In law doing?"
Honestly, getting married in three months was not something I have ever through of, it never even crossed my mind. It's not like I don't have feelings for Aisha, I do and she's a great girl but I just have doubts about rushing into it. Techno speaking, that means we'd only date for four months before we get married.
It sounds preposterous in mind but maybe it isn't. Maybe it's what's best for both of us.
"Ya Abdul, you good?" Humaira asks worriedly.
I smile "We're great actually"
"And you're getting married" she squeals.I love seeing Humaira get excited about stuff, she hardly ever does so it's a good thing actually.
I nod "We are"
"Then why are you frowning"
"I'm not"She shrugs "Anyway—Ma and her mother are meeting up tomorrow to start talking about your wedding, I'll be the groom's sister, his only sister"
I nod.
Ma closes her book "Humaira, can you please excuse us?"
"Of course" she rushes in.She looks at me worriedly.
"Are you okay?"
I nod "I'm perfectly fine, Ma""You don't sound fine at all. You look worried to me. Is it that you don't like Aisha or you don't want to marry her".
I shake my head "It's not that at all. I think she'd be a great life partner"
"Then? What's wrong?""What if it's too soon"
She huffs "When Bashir told me about your plans and called you and asked if it's what you really wanted and when you agreed I supported you. So if there's something about her you're not okay with, you should say it now"I shake my head "There's really nothing wrong with Aishatu, I think I like her too"
She smiles "Then what you're feeling is fine. I think you just want to spend more time with her, get to know her before you're married but you have forever to do that. If there's nothing wrong with her, then don't make a mistake you'd end up regretting".I smile "You're right"
"Exactly".::
