"So, we gonna go to the beach now?" Will glanced around.
"Yeah, may as well," Jordyn replied.
The fire had already started and music was booming throughout the beach. People were dancing, talking, laughing and having fun. It's not often you see that around here.
They walked towards it, Will slipped his hand into Jordan's and Maya eat the last few doughnuts. They walked past the markets, where strong smells of candy floss and soda could be smelt.
"Would you like to try this?" A large woman with dark skin who was in uniform stepped out in front of them, "it's a new formula, and it is so good!"
Will, Jordyn and Maya took a quick glance at each other before they all picked one up and walked away.
"Are you going to try it?" Jordyn asked wearily, not realising that Maya and Will had already finished theirs.
"We've eat it," Maya laughed.
"Oh, right," Jordyn examined it before popping it into her mouth. She began to cough and her cough soon turned into a splutter and before they knew it she was bent over at the side of the markets while Will patted her back as she coughed up the remains of the popcorn the woman had given her.
"This is not good," Maya paced, "should I call someone?"
"No," Jordyn managed to slip out between coughs, "it's fine."
"Jordyn, you're choking, for fuck sake!" Maya quickly dialled her other friends. "Yeah, Jordyn is having problems. No! It's not funny! Joe..."
"I said don't!" Jordyn stood upright and her coughing had stopped.
"Right," Maya ended the phone call and slipped her phone back in her pocket, putting it on "do not disturb" mode so that Joe could not phone her back.
"Come on," Jordyn muttered, "this is embarrassing."
"You were choking," Will looked at Jordyn sympathetically before gasping, "the card!"
Jordyn and Maya's eyes widened as they continued to walk towards the bonfire. Jordyn took the card out of her pocket and examined it again.
"I told you!" Jordyn cried, "there's something really dodgy about it. I almost choked to death!"
"Maybe not to death, Jord," Will scratched his neck.
"Will," Maya punched him in the arm before refocusing on the card, "it could have just been a coincidence?"
"Right, just be careful tonight, okay?" Will placed a reassuring hand on her arm before she nodded her head, slipped the card into her pocket and continued towards the bonfire.
