Late March....

- East 36th. Street... Off Greenmount Avenue.

As the sun peeked through her thin blue curtains, Seventeen year old A'Jai Houston opened her eyes. She stretched, got out of the bed and checked her phone.
It was 7:06 a.m. and she knew her and Aria only had thirty minutes to get dressed and on the bus stop. She got her clothes out then walked next door to Aria's Room.
Aria's bedroom was simpler to Ajai's bedroom, except A'Jai had blue everything and Aria had pink Everything. You could say that Aria was the girly girl while A'jai was the tomboy.
Aria was A'Jai's twin, they were born a few minutes apart which made A'Jai the oldest. She peeked her head through the door and called out to her sister.

"Aria... Aria Get up dummy" A'Jai said standing at Aria's doorway.
Aria tossed and turned before throwing the blanket over her head. She let out a loud growling noise, but that didn't bother A'Jai one bit because she didn't want them to be late for school.
"What"? Aria moaned out in a sleepy voice.
"Come on we gonna be late for school yo" A'Jai said.
"Ugh... But I don't want to A'Jai" Aria said still stuffed under the covers.
"I don't wanna Miss the bus and have to wait for another one... So come on" A'Jai fussed.
"Ard... Ard... I'm up damn" Aria said tossing the covers off her body and getting up.
"A'Jai smiled because she knew her big sister intentions had kicked in "Be Ready in 15 Dummy" she said walking away from the door.
"Be Ready in 15" Aria said mocking her twin sister. " Tuhh, I don't know what her problem is... Beauty takes time" Aria said in search for a outfit in her dresser draw. She had already had in mind what she was wearing so today wouldn't be hard to follow her sister's commands.

Exactly fifteen minutes later:

A'Jai stood in her full size mirror looking at herself. She was beautiful and she knew it more than she was told. She had a flawless light caramel complexion that she was blessed with from her full African American father and long silky hair that naturally flowed down her back that she inherited from her Mother who was full blown Indian. Ajai's slim body stood about 5'5 and she was definitely curvy all over with full perky boobs and nice slim legs. She had two tattoos one on her leg and the other on her chest, a nose ring in her nose and a beauty mole on the left side of her mouth.
She stood in a pair of blue skinny jeans, a black fitting shirt that showed off her clevage and a pair of boots. She had her moment where most of the time she dressed tomboyish with a fitted on her head and other times she would dress up, but either way she still looked like a ten no matter what she wore and niggas still tried to get at her.
Once she was Satified she left her room and went downstairs where her twin and their mother were in the kitchen.

"Hey mama" A'Jai said kissing her mother Maranda's cheek who sat at the kitchen table with a pile of mail in front of her.

"Hey baby... You hungry"? Mom asked. A'Jai shook her head no while pouring a cup of orange juice.

"Here" Maranda said sliding a envelope across the table. Both A'Jai and Aria walked up to the table for the letter, but A'Jai happened to grab it first.

"It's ya uncle Nate" Mom said taking a sip of her coffee.

Nate was Maranda's brother who was now serving a life sentence for murder. He was the closest thing to A'Jai and Aria before he got locked up. Nate was more of a father figure to them than their own father, so everytime they heard from him it would just brighten up their day. Maranda pretty much lost her head when he got arrested, causing her to feel like she had the most bad luck in life.
Maranda was basically a stay home mom who lived off section 8 and TCA. Don't get me wrong she was a good mother, Although she had them at the age of 15 she still did what she had to for them. In her eyes there was no hope in her future, and that's not what she wanted for A'Jai and Aria.
Aria rushed through her bowl of Lucky charms, knowing at any minute Ajai's mouth was going be running about them being late.
Aria somewhat matched with A'Jai except her shirt was white and she wore a vest over it. Aria and A'Jai were like day and night... Aria was the nice, calm twin who smiled alot, but A'Jai on the other hand had a mean streak and smart mouth. Well that was until you made her that way, other than that she wasn't all bad. Although they looked just a like, you could tell them apart especially because Aria didn't share that same beauty mole on her lip like A'Jai.
Plus A'Jai's hair was a baby blue color while Aria's was Red.
They both kissed their mother goodbye and left the house. And all though Greenmount Avenue wasn't the best place to live Maranda kept them in a nice decent three bedroom, two bath, three story home. Just as they walked up A'Jai saw her best friend Esha walking up too. Esha lived two blocks down from them and they had been friends since they were little girl.

"Hey Bitches" Esha yelled waving her hands up from down the street as she jogged up to A'Jai and Aria.

"Sup yo" A'Jai said chuckling at her best friend's ghettoness.

They greeted her with a hug then they walked across the street to the bus stop.

"Bitch y'all late too" Esha said placing her cold hands in her jacket. She had just ran out the house for the bus when she saw them coming up the street.

"Yah... But I hope we didn't miss the bus because I'm cold as hell" Aria said looking down at her phone. She really hated being too cold Ajai on the other hand it didn't bother so much.

"I hope not either" Esha said looking at the time.

Five minutes later, the bus pulled up and all three of them hopped on. They arrived in front of Northern highschool in time for their first period class.
Esha and Ajai part ways from Aria who had a different first period class.

Esha and A'jai shared all the same classes but Aria only shared last period class with them. Esha and A'jai walked in Mr.Jones class he was beginning his morning lesson, but nobody never really paid him any attention. Most of the class was doing their own thing Talking, sleep, Gossiping or cracking jokes. Ajai and Esha took her seats side by side and took out their books. Even though Class could be boring to them one thing about them they always paid attention and got good grades.

"I would like everyone's homework on my desk from my over the weekend lesson" Mr. Jones said writing on the chalkboard.
The boy Devin who was sitting behind A'Jai leaned up and tapped her. She ignored him for about a minute or two, but of course he was consistent.

"A'Jai I know you hear me" he whispered.

She rolled her eyes in the back of her head "Ugh... Devin leave me alone please". Devin wasn't a ugly dude... In fact he was a sexy brown tone, tall slim dude with Swagg. She just wasn't into him the way he was into her.

"Why you gotta be like that towards me A'Jai"? He asked annoying the hell out of A'Jai.
She never turned around and looked at him, in fact she continued to ignore him for the rest of the class period. She even silently thanked God this was their only class together.

The school bell rang and it was time for everyone's last period class. A'Jai and Esha met up with aria and they all headed to the third floor to Ms. Lancaster's Math class.

Walking towards the end of the hall they noticed a crowd of people standing around yelling and going off. A lightskinned and darkskinned girl were throwing hands punching and pulling each others hair while screaming and fussing.

The darkskinned girl had knocked the lightskinned one down on her ass and climbed on top on her, giving her face shots. The girl kicked and pushed, but she couldn't get up. That was until Ms. Lancaster's and the gym teacher Mr. Batson came and pulled them apart. The lightskinned girl rose up still swinging and kicking like a wild person, almost hitting Aria in the face.

"Ah hell nah... If ya ass hit my sister their will be another fight I promise" A'Jai warned the lightskinned girl with not a inch of fear in her heart.
Beings though everybody in the school knew how certified A'Jai's hands were and she proved what she was capable of multiple times, the lighskinned girl didn't even push her luck.

She just put her head down as her and the darkskinned girl was hauled off down the hall to the office.
