Chapter 28

          A'jai

When Zane sent me a 911 text I immediately left my mom's and headed straight to her safe house. My heart felt like it was in my stomach I didn't know what the fuck was going on and it seem like the fast I moved the slower I was going. I got there just as Esha's pulled up in a cab. She hopped out and we both ran up the steps and banged on the door.

A few seconds later Zane opened up and pulled me and Esha inside fast. He was all out of breath and he kept pacing the floor.

"Zane what the fuck"? Esha yelled as she threw her hands up.

"I think they got Gucc" Zane said as sweat poured down his face.

My heart stopped "What... Wait... Who got Gucc"? I questioned.

"The boys" he said referring to the police.

I took a step to Zane "Zane what happened"?

"Man we had just hit a lick we came back here then we dipped out to come pick yall up. Gucc wanted to celebrate with you tonight he wanted to do something special he said... Then this fucking cop pulls us over and..." He was cut off with a loud bang at the door.

We all stood there with nervous expressions. The knock grew louder, Zane walked to the door and pulled his gun out cocking it back.

"Who da fuck is it"? He said in a deep mad voice.

"Gucc... Open the door yo".

Zane slung the door open and Gucc rushed in fast. He was sweaty and his eyes were big all I could do was stare at him as he rushed over and pulled me in his arms.

"Gucc tell me what's going on"? I said.

"Baby... Listen I'm going down for a while I don't know how long but I need you to do what you gotta do to take care of yaself. Zane is gonna make sure you and Esha is straight til I come home" Gucc said.

I pulled away from his grip "No Gucc we can just leave town or something".

"Baby no... Just do what I said Ard" he said rushing to the back of our safe house.

I just stood there ready to cry while Esha stood close by me in shock. We didn't have much in the safe house just a couch, a old school box tv and a round table because this was just a place we chilled at or hide our work at.

Minutes later Gucc and Zane came back in the living room area where me and Esha was with big ass duffle bags and money hanging out.

"This is enough for all y'all to get y'all selves together" Gucc said.

I started sobbing "You not leaving me Gucc".

He walked up to me a moved a strand of hair out my face as he looked me in my eyes. "I got to baby".

"Gucc it's gotta be another way" I said with tears in my eyes.

He looked at me with sadness written all over his face "This is the only way... I'm not running A'Jai" he said calmly.

   We split the bags of money up in three book bags one for me,one for Esha and one for Zane.

         Minutes later we heard sirens approaching, we already knew what time it was and so did Gucc. I gave him that sad look this really couldn't be happening I wish it was a dream but it wasn't I was standing in my own reality.

"They coming" Zane said.

"Yeah y'all gotta go" Gucc said with his eyes on me. He looked just as sad as me but the only difference was I wasn't holding it together we'll but he was.

"Gucc please don't do this to me" I said wiping the tears that poured out my eyes.

He walked over and picked up my book bag before walking back over to me.

He touched the side of my face "You got this babygirl... Go finish out our plans so when I come home we will be straight" he said.

Me and Gucc always talked about how we was gonna live once we got on our feet. We just knew we was gonna have the life we always wanted the nice cars, that big ass house with everything else we wanted but sadly it wasn't gonna be that way. Now I had to be without my baby, my heart I didn't wanna do this without him let alone be without him period.

Zane and Esha walked over to the window and Zane lifted it opened so we could climb out before the cops busted in. But I stood there in the middle of the floor I couldn't move I couldn't leave Gucc.

"Baby you gotta go now" he said in a low calm voice.

I walked over and kissed his lips like this would be my last time ever kissing him as he pulled me in. Once he let me go I walked over to the window Zane dapped Gucci up and climbed out the window. Esha hugged Gucc then she climbed out behind Zane. I looked in Gucc's eyes one last time and kissed his lips.

"I love you" he said.

"I love you to" I said as my voice cracked. I climbed out the window and stood by Esha and Zane as we watched Gucc quickly close the window.

"Come on" Zane said running up the alley with Esha behind him.

I stared at the window with wet eyes until Gucc disappeared then I jogged away to meet up with Zane and Esha.

We stood on the other side of the street in the crowd of people as they brought Gucc out the house in hand cuffs. I tried to keep myself together but at that moment I felt like I was falling apart, he was my man and now I had to be without him for a while.

Once he was put in the back of the police car we walked away without being noticed.

Damn Gucc 😯😔😔😔
