Chapter 19

       A'jai

    I called Aria phone about six times and still got no answer from her Our mom even called me and asked had I talked to her. She asked where was I and you know I was quick I told her I was with Esha at her house tonight even though I was with Gucc. See, mom didn't care if we stay the night out some where she just wanted to know where she knew we were almost woman, so she didn't try to be to overprotective.

     Me, Gucc and Zane was in the kitchen eating snacks and talking. We was finished our little card game and Esha had just left for the night. I called Aria's phone one last time and still got no answer, we all headed to bed. Soon as me and Gucc laid in bed he pulled me closer to him rapped his arms around me and we went to sleep.

      4:27 a.m.

I woke up to my phone vibrating on Gucc's nightstand. All I know was this better been important or I was gonna snap for my sleep being Disturbed.

"Hello" I snapped in the phone not even looking to see who it was.

"A'Jai wake up and cut ya attitude it's ya mother" mom said in the phone in between sobs.

I sat halfway up and wiped my sleepy eyes "My Bad what's wrong mama"? I asked still with my eyes closed.

"A'Jai tell me the truth where's ya sister"? Mom asked in a panicking voice.

"Mom she's not with me Im sure she's safe ma" I said in a sleepy voice.

"No you don't understand... I got a bad feeling A'Jai something is not right and you know how it is when I get them bad feelings" mom said in a sad voice as if she was reminiscing about something.

    I knew what she was referring to tho, she was referring to the night my uncle was arrested she knew something bad was happening to him and the next morning we found out. Before he was arrested he was always there for us, he took care of us real well it was nothing we wanted that we didn't have. He paid bills, brought us Everything and mom to so it was like when he got locked up and we knew he was never coming home things changed. It was like his sentence put a stop to mom's life period, she automatically shut down.

Their was a pause in the phone... "A'Jai is it something you not telling me... If it is tell me now and I'm not playing" mom warned.

I sighed "Mom relax okay... She's probably with her boyfriend David" I said finally confessing my sister's secret just so mom wouldn't keep worrying.
It what she said next not only woke me up, but it sent a ache to my stomach.

"She's not with him I just talked to him... He's the one who called me" mom said.

I frowned "You know about him"? I asked.

"A'Jai mama ain't never been no fool... I know all about David and I know all about Gucc. I'm not slow A'Jai so is she with you or not"? Mom said.

"Ma she's not with me" I said in a serious voice.

"Oh God something's not right" mom said in the phone. It was like an alert hit my body I jumped up and started searching for my clothes.

"Ma I'm on my way" I said.

"Don't come alone bring Gucc with you it's too late for you to be out by yourself" she said and I hung up.

I chuckled to myself as I put my clothes on, I guess mama wasn't no fool but I wondered how long she knew I had been with Gucc I wonder if she knew I was lying the whole time.
