"When did you get home last night?" my father asked as I walked down the stairs.
"Around eleven, Luciano and I were out trying to catch fireflies," I answered, yawning. "I figured that since it was Friday I could stay out later because I don't have school today."
"And that's it?" he pushed. "That's all you two did together?"
"Yes, papa, that's all we did last night besides talking." I sighed.
"Alright, then." My father nodded. "Have you finished all of your homework?"
"Yes, papa." I nodded.
"That's good." My father hummed.
"Where are you headed to?" I asked, seeing the small suitcase next to him.
"It's short notice, but I'm going to Washington to train people and what not." He replied.
"Oh," I mumbled. "How long will you be gone?"
"Just a few months, I think. The plain is leaving in a couple of hours." He said. "You know the drill."
"I know Papa, stay safe." I sighed.
"I love you. You be careful out there too." He murmured. "See you soon."
"Yeah," I whispered, watching him walk out the door.
"I hope my father got there safely," I whispered to myself as I sat down.
Its lunch time again.
"Hmm?" Luciano hummed in question.
"My father left for Washington yesterday to train some people," I replied. "I hope that he had a safe flight there."
"He probably has, or you would have heard something by now." He murmured, wrapping his arm around my waist.
"Yeah, I guess." I sighed, leaning into him.
"Is there anything else bothering you?" Luciano asked.
"Not that I know of," I mumbled.
"Are you sure?" he wondered.
"I think so," I whispered.
I yawned as I locked the door and put the keys in my bag before turning around and walking off the porch.
There's a white car in the driveway. Whose car is that? It's not Luciano's, his car is dark blue and is at the end of the street currently.
"Mom." I gasped as she hugged me, the white car must be hers. "What are you doing here?"
"Hello, sweetheart." She grinned, letting go of me.
"What are you doing here?" I repeated, cautiously stepping away from her.
Luciano's here, he's pulling into the driveway.
"I wanted to see you, sweetheart." My mother pouted.
"I need to go," I mumbled. "I don't want to be late for school."
"How're you adjusting to this school?" she asked.
"Just fine," I replied, inching a little further away from her.
"Rei." He greeted, wrapping an arm around my waist and kissing my forehead.
"Good morning." I breathed out.
"Sweetheart, who is this?" my mother asked.
"I'm her boyfriend, ma'am," Luciano replied politely. "And you are?"
"Her mother, you uncultured swi-" my mother started to say.
"Grace! That's enough!" I snapped, interrupting her before looking at Luciano. "Come on, let's get to school."
"Right." He nodded. "It was nice meeting you, ma'am..."
