The car ride to school was silent besides the soft hum of the engine and radio.
"I'm sorry for how she acted towards you," I muttered as we pulled into the school.
"Never apologize for what someone else does, alright?" Luciano said. "It's not your fault what other people do."
"Alright." I sighed looking down at my lap. "I guess I still have some explaining to do either way, huh?"
"Yeah, but that can wait till later." Luciano nodded as he put his car in park.
"Okay," I mumbled.
"Hey, look at me." He cooed softly.
I did as he said. "Hmm?"
"It's going to be alright." He murmured. "I won't let anyone hurt you or take you away from me."
"Right..." I trailed off.
"What are you really here for?" I asked when I saw my mother on my porch.
School ended so Luciano and I are going to work on homework at my place since it will be quiet.
"Why is he with you again?" she sneered with a disgusted look on her face.
"Answer my question, mother," I replied quietly.
"As your mother, I demand to know why you are hanging around him!" she said, ignoring what I have to say as usual.
"You're not my mother!" I snapped. "A mother wouldn't do the things that you've done to me. You may be my mother biologically, but that's where the relationship ends. You are no mother, grace."
Luciano placed his hand on my shoulder calmly.
"Sweetheart, you don't mean that." She smirked. "You have more in common with me than you care to admit."
"No," I muttered, glaring at her. "I have nothing in common with you at all. I want you off of my property right now. If you're not gone within ten minutes, I'm calling the cops."
I placed my hand on Luciano's and looked up at him.
"Come on," I whispered. "Let's go inside."
"So, um, if you don't mind me asking," Luciano uttered. "What exactly happened between you two?"
"She, um, well..." I trailed off.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, Rei." He said, hugging me to his chest. "I'm not forcing you to do anything you don't want to."
"Maybe later," I sighed, kissing Luciano's cheek. "We still have homework to do."
"Yeah, we do don't we?" Luciano nodded. "We should get started on that. I'm going to go get my homework out of my bag now."
"I'll do that too." I chuckled softly.
I peeked through the window to see if my mother was still there.
I sighed. Good, she's gone.
