Rei's P.O.V.
"So, about my mother," I murmured. "She abandoned my father and me when I was five. She had refused to get a job when they got married, and my father had lost his job. She quickly made it very evident that she loved money more than us. She went out almost every day and would come back very late at night with expensive clothing or jewelry."
Luciano stayed silent, looking up at me from the other side of the table and setting his pencil down.
"After a few weeks, my father got a new job and my mother would still leave and come back late at night, leaving me alone in the house all day." I continued. "He confronted her about it and I remember them arguing a lot after that. My father was hurt and trying to fix his relationship with my mother while she, she was just so angry. After a few months I started school, she would pick me up. The first Friday, she never came."
I paused for a few moments, regaining my composure before I said anything else.
"She would send letters to me every few months, about three times a year for two years. In the first one, she talked about how she was doing well and other things a mother should never tell their five-year-old daughter," I sighed. "I refused to read any more of her words. Reading became my escape when they started arguing and it allowed me to forget the fact that she abandoned dad and I. I guess that's why I push people away before I can start to care about them."
Luciano stood up and walked over to me.
"I will never leave you," he whispered, hugging me tightly to his chest. "By your side is where I belong and I have no plans of ever leaving that spot."
"Thank you," I smiled, hesitantly hugging him back. "It really means a lot."
I groggily opened my eyes.
I'm in my room.
How did I get in my room?
Whatever, I need to get ready for school. I overslept as is, Luciano will be here in a few minutes.
I grabbed a pair of black sweatpants and a turquoise long sleeve shirt with the shoulder and about one-third of the back lace.
The shirt is a tighter fit than I remember it being. Mostly in the chest area. Oh well.
I slipped my boots on and tied them.
I started walking downstairs when there was a knock on the door.
"Hey." I breathed out, opening the door. "I'm running a bit slow this morning, I woke up late."
"Hey," Luciano chuckled. "I'm sorry about yesterday..."
"Hmm? What happened yesterday that you have to apologize about?" I hummed.
"You fell asleep while we were studying so I just put you in your bed," he nervously shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck. "You looked so peaceful that I just couldn't wake you."
"Ahh." I giggled. "That's okay. I'll be right back, I'm going to go grab my backpack real quick."
I turned around to go get my backpack.
"Alright." he nodded. "Have you eaten breakfast?"
"No," I responded. "I was just going to wait until lunch. I will pack a snack though, just in case I get hungry before then."
"Are you sure you don't want to eat something now?" he wondered.
"Yeah," I responded. "I'm not hungry right now."
The two girls are glancing at me again.
Their wearing black leggings and brown, soft looking snow boots. One has a light blue hoodie and the other has a light pink hoodie.
"Hi." the one with the blue hoody chirped.
"Um," I mumbled. "Hi."
"We never actually introduced ourselves." the one in the pink hoodie said. "I'm Tailor and my twin sister is Tabby."
So I was right, they are twins.
"I'm, um, I'm Rei." I murmured.
"We're going to go roller skating next Friday with our boyfriends. Would you and your boyfriend be interested in coming with us?" Tabby asked. "It could be like a triple date."
My eyes widened in shock.
"Well, um," I uttered. "I'd, uh, I'd have to talk with him about it to see if he wanted to."
"Sweet." she giggled. "We can swap phone numbers and you could tell us if he's interested in coming or not."
"Um, sure." I smiled nervously. "That sounds good."
Why are they asking this so suddenly? Is this normal?
"Ohh!" Tailor gasped. "We could go out and get cute outfits for it too!"
Oh no.
Shopping.
