"Java chip with whipped cream!" Mark called.
"Got it!" I replied, making the drink I was relied on the most to make. It was a normal day at work in Starbucks and I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary. It wasn't a very busy day but you could still hear light conversations and laughter.
"Hi, welcome to Starbucks how can I... I... I," I heard Genevieve stutter. Strange, Gen's the best one here, she never chokes. I thought. I figured that maybe she was drifting off from working so much. I decided to finish making the last drink of my shift before checking on her.
"Java chip with whipped cream, here you go, Mark," I said turning around. I then walked over the Gen's cashier to help her out.
"I'm sorry, how can I help... you," I finally knew why she was so nervous. She was serving Jay McGuiness.
"You're that girl from the other day with the dog, right?" He asked me with a cute smile.
"Er, yeah." I replied. Then snapped my fingers in front of Gen's face trying to wake her up.
"Line isn't getting any shorter," I whispered to Gen and walked back to the kitchen.
"Shift's done?" Mark asked me as I took my apron and cap off.
"Yeah," I said. "I'll be back for my 2nd shift."
"Alright, see you later." I said, turning to walk out the door.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" Someone said when I bumped into them.
"No, I'm sorry, it's alright," I rushed. I smelt something familiar. It was a scent that made me feel comforting. As if I was back home in Gloucester.
"You again." It was Nathan smiling at me with his eyes lighting up again.
"H-hey," I smiled.
"Is, ahh, Shadow back there?" He joked. "Because if so, then he seems to keep leading us to each other."
I couldn't say anything. I couldn't respond. Everything was frozen in time. He looked so beautiful, especially with his face so close to mine, I could really appreciate it.
"Oh," I said, snapping back into reality. "No, no," I chuckled. "Of course I wouldn't bring Shade back there. Unless... you followed him?" I played along.
"Wanna go for a coffee?" He asked.
"Er, we're at Starbucks, what other coffee place do you wanna go to?"
"Oh... right, of course," he chuckled.
Not long after, there were people crowded around the windows of Starbucks.
"Trust our fans to find us," Tom said. I was sitting on a separate table with Nathan, while Max, Tom, Jay and Siva were crowded around another.
"So, how come we never talked back in Gloucester? Let alone ran into each other," Nathan asked. We had sat together for what seemed like 10 minutes talking about anything under the sun, but that really got me thinking.
"You know... I never really thought about it." I replied. "I just heard a lot about you. You were the kid who went to Sylvia Young's Theatre School, traveling hours just to get there while everyone else walked 10 minutes to their schools. According to my sources you were beautiful on the piano and had a big singing voice for a 12 year old."
"Well I heard some things about you as well," Nathan said. "You're the middle child in a family of 3, with 2 brothers. I heard you sing a little as well, with the guitar."
"Drums and piano, too," I added.
"Damn, looks like you could start a one-woman band!" He teased.
"Elle! Your on!" Mark alerted me about my next shift.
"What? That's impossible, my first shift ended at 2, my next shift isn't until--"
"5:45? Yeah, what time is it now, Eleanor?"
"5:45," I sighed. But time flew by so fast.
"Here," Nathan said passing me a napkin. "So call me, maybe?" He sang.
"Alright, sure," I giggled and went back behind the counter.
I watched The Wanted leave the cafe and they all waved us goodbye. Nathan even took a 2nd look back to wave to me again.
"Somebody has a crush on youuu," Mark chimed.
"Shut up," I said, hitting him on the chest.
