Clint's POV
Oh my head. It hurts so freaking bad. I went to bring my hand up to touch it but, quickly stopped myself. A sharp pain shot through my whole arm. What the heck happened to me? I worked at opening my eyes which proved more difficult. Wherever I was was very bright. It also hurt my right eye. Finally I got them opened and my eyes took a few moments to adjust. Once my vision cleared I looked around. I was in the hospital. How did I get here?
I looked over my body and noticed my arm was in a cast and I had a sling holding it up. I lifted my other arm and felt the bandage that was around my head. The last thing I remember was something bright and then someone yelling at me. Waite! I was in an accident! I looked around the room and saw my mom to my side. She was asleep in a chair next to the bed. Her hand was on my leg and her head laid on her other arm.
"Mom?" I rasped out. She stirred slightly and then I moved my leg a bit. "Mom?" Her head popped up quickly and she looked over at me. Her eyes started to swell with tears as she stood up.
"Oh my gosh you're awake!" She gave me a half hug and kissed my cheek. "I was so worried you weren't going to wake."
"What happened?" Her face changed and looked down at me disappointed.
"You were texting and must have swerved to miss something. The truck flipped and you were thrown into a tree." She smacked my good arm. "You're lucky you didn't die you little shit."
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have looked at my phone." I looked behind her to see if I could see anyone else and I didn't see anyone."She was here earlier. Declan was exhausted and she needed to get him home to put him to bed." I looked back up at her.
"She actually came?" She looked at me like I was stupid.
"Of course she did. I will say she's not very happy about why you did get in the accident." I mentally palmed myself. Of course she isn't. Gah I'm such a freaking idiot. She's told me many times not to. "Also there's something else."
"Well I see he's finally awake." My entire body froze. That couldn't be him could it? I turned slowly and in the doorway was my father. "You going to say hello to your dad?"
"I would but, I only do that to people I'm on good terms with." I said annoyed. I looked back at my mother and glared at her. She shrugged her shoulders sympathetically. He chuckled and walked over to me
"Go tell the nurses he's awake Diana." I glared up at him.
"Don't tell her what to do. You aren't in control of her anymore." Mom then pushed the call button and we fell silent. A woman walked in and noticed I was awake.
"Oh good your awake." She went to the speaker on her uniform and talked into it. "Could you let Doctor Harker know that 128 is awake?" She dropped the speaker back down and then walked over to me. "How are you feeling?"
"Umm alright, my arm hurts a bit. My head as well." She nodded and looked over at the monitors.
"Ok I'll run some meds for that right now. Be careful with your arm. You had a pretty bad break there. So try to keep that still." I nodded and she pressed a few buttons on one of the machines. It beeped and then I could feel something be pumped into my I.V.
"Tell the doctor he hasn't changed much. He's still as stubborn as ever." My dad said as he went to sit down.
"Please ignore him." I said and the nurse smiled as she looked me over. I looked up and what looked like the doctor come through the doorway.
"Mr. Hamilton, it's good to see you awake." He said and came over to the monitors to look things over.
"I just gave him a dose of pain meds." The nurse said as she typed into the computer. He nodded and then turned towards me.
"Alright, do you remember anything of what happened?" I nodded to him.
"Yeah I was in an accident. I remember most of it."
"That's a good sign. You have a pretty nasty break on your arm and up on your collarbone. We did surgery for that last night. Everything went well." I nodded as he continued. "You also took a pretty good smack to the head. You got a black eye from it as well."
"That wasn't from the accident." He looked at me surprised and then smiled.
"Ok, probably hockey huh?" I just nodded. I'm not telling him the kid that was in here a while ago put me on my ass. "Anyways you had a bit of swelling on your brain last night. I'd like to do some scans to see how that's going. Since you're awake, it sounds like it'll look great."
"Thank you, I'm really grateful for what you've done." I said and held my hand up to shake his hand. He took it and shook it lightly.
"That's why I'm here. Gotta keep that hockey career going right? Which reminds me, you'll have to sit out a while. I want you good and healed before you go back out onto the ice." I nodded and he looked back at the nurse. "Rachel order a brain scan and let me know when they get finished up." She nodded and continued to type in the computer. "Is there anything we can get you folks. Would you like a drink Mr. Hamilton?" He said and looked down at me.
"I would, please call me Clint." He smiled and nodded.
"Alright Clint it is. I want to start you on water. I don't want anything that will stir up your blood before I get those scans. After we'll let you have something else and maybe some food." I nodded and saluted him. "Would you like us to call your girlfriend for you?" I looked at him wide eyed. She told him she was my girlfriend and he saw her!
"I'll call and let her know. Thank you Dr. Harker for thinking of her. She had some business this morning. I'll get a hold of her." Mom said from my side.
"Great, let us know if you need anything else." He said as he started leaving.
"A Bloody Mary would be fabulous." My dad said and I looked at him annoyed.
"Ha funny." Was all the doctor said as he walked out. The nurse finished up and then headed out of the room.
"So girlfriend huh?" My dad said then stood back up. He made his way over to the foot of my bed. "Why don't I know about this girl?"
"Because I don't tell you about my personal life." I said and my mom squeezed my hand. He was just trying to rile me up and she was reminding me.
"Is she that big of an embarrassment?" I looked at him angrily.
"Shut the hell up and don't speak of her that way." I saw my mom in the corner of my eye shake her head. "Why are you even here? You could't care less if I lived or died."
"I'm going to go call Chelsee. She wanted to know when you woke up." I nodded and my mom headed out.
"You know I only wanted the best for my son. Did you forget I paid for all that schooling you had?" His voice was as irritating as I remember.
"You wanted to live through me dad. Life was a living hell when ever you were around." I said angrily. "Also don't worry I'll send you a check in the mail for any expense you put out on me. I don't want you holding any of that shit over my head."
"I never said I wanted the money back, I'd just like you to be grateful for what I did for you. I even tried finding you a girl and you always went against it." I rolled my eyes at him. "They were all great prospects and you didn't give them the time of day."
"Probably because they weren't what I wanted. I don't want your cookie cutter, perfect, money grubbing picks. If it meant living the same life you do with the expensive cars, houses, and other toys. That's not the life I wanted but, for some reason you always have to force it on me." As I finished my mom walked back in.
"Chelsee is coming in just a bit. There's a few things she needs to do and she'll come. She said that she called Coach Claude and let him know as well as Clayton." I nodded. Wow well thanks for taking care of that Chelsee. It's crazy she thought of doing that for me. Although that is Chelsee to the T.
"Great I'll get to meet this girl." My dad said and then plopped himself into the chair again.
"You can leave." I said and he just folded his arms with a smug smile on his face. Gosh I freaking hate him.
"Mr. Hamilton I'm here to take you down for your scan." Said a man from the doorway. Thank heavens someone to take me from this insanity!
