Clint's POV
"I'm a little jealous she gets to take care of you." Mom said. My mom had brought a bag of my things to take to Chelsee's house and was moping a bit. "I know that you'd prefer having her helping you shower though." I just nodded quickly. The thought of my mother being in the shower with me nearly choked me.
"I'm sorry mom. I don't mean to disappoint you." I said sincerely. "I just know worrying about me and grandpa will be hard enough. Also yes I'd rather my girlfriend see me in the shower and not you." I said and she laughed.
"It's fine, I don't need to be scarred for life and see my sons full grown naked body." I laughed and Chelsee walked in. She looked really tired this morning. Like she didn't sleep at all. "Hey Chelsee!" My mom said and gave her a hug. Chelsee smiled and then looked over at me.
"Ready to break out of here?" She asked me teasingly.
"You have no idea." I said and gave her a wink. Her smile reached her eyes and my mother started talking again.
"So I got most of his essentials and clothes. I only got one pair a shoes. Cause lets face it he's not going anywhere." Mom said and looked over at me. "Now you better do as your told. Cause I'll come beat you senseless if you don't."
"Yes Ma'am." I said with a salute.
"I won't be afraid to call and tell your mom on you." Chelsee said jokingly. They both laughed and I sat there unimpressed.
"This is great and all but, can we leave now." My mom looked over at me like I was stupid.
"You have to sign papers you dope." Chelsee was trying to suppress her laughter and was failing. One of the nurses came in and helped me get dressed to go home. Finally something with actual comfort. I wasn't able to put a shirt on though because of my arm. So I put my jacket on and had the nurse zip my whole arm in. I just let my one sleeve hang. As I came out Dr. Harker was talking with Chelsee about my wound care and everything else. Chelsee turned and looked me up and down.
"That's quite the fashion statement you got going there." She said and Dr. Harker looked as well. He chuckled a bit and nodded.
"I'd say it was original but, I've been at this a while. I've seen everything." Everybody laughed at me and I came to slip my slippers on the hospital gave me. "I've got your papers right here Clint. Now please remember if you have any nausea or dizziness that's hard to bare. Please come back. Other than that you should do great." I nodded and took the clipboard from him. I sat it down on my lap and looked over what I needed to sign. I scribbled my name quickly and handed it back.
"Not that I didn't enjoy your company but, I'm glad I'm going home." I said to Dr. Harker and he laughed.
"I know what you mean. Get out of here and get feeling better alright." He held his hand out for me and we shook hands. "It was good to see you two again as well. Take care." He said as he shook my mom's and Chelsee's hand.
"Can we go now?" I asked Chelsee with puppy eyes. She chuckled and gave me a nod. She tossed my bags over her shoulders and then held her hand out to me.
"Lets go roomie." She said and I chuckled a bit. I was a little woozy from all the walking earliar. So when I stood up I lost my footing.
"Oh geez." Chelsee said and dropped my bags to catch me. She caught me before I fell and held me still. "Looks like I'm gonna have to carry you to the car." I looked at her horrified.
"Absolutely not, Chelsee I'm twice your size." She shook her head at me.
"Obviously Clint, I was joking." She said with a laugh. "Diana would you grab the bags and I'll keep him up right when we walk him out?" My mom nodded and picked up the bags from the floor. "Alright are you steady enough now?" She asked.
"Yeah I think I'm alright now. I'm just not used to the walking thing quite yet." I said and was unsure if she could catch me again if I fell.
"I'll go grab a wheel chair for you guys. One moment." The nurse said and I was grateful. Not that I didn't trust Chelsee but, in her frail condition. I didn't want to hurt her. A few moments later the nurse was back. She wheeled the chair over to where I was and I gratefully sat down.
"Ok let's get you home so you can get back into bed." Chelsee said worriedly and I nodded. They wheeled me through the halls and out to the parking lot. "I'll go grab my car and pull it up front." Chelsee said and patted my shoulder. She ran out to the parking lot and headed to her car.
"She doesn't seem like herself today. I wonder what's the matter." My mom said as she watched Chelsee get into her car. Apparently I wasn't the only one who noticed that earlier.
"I don't know, I'll talk to her about it when we get home." She nodded and then Chelsee's Jeep was in front of us. It looked really high and I was a bit worried about lifting myself in. Chelsee came around and opened the door. As she helped me out of the chair and then over to my car she noticed my hesitation.
"I'm not going to let you do it by yourself. I've gotten a few people into a car a time or two." Chelsee said and then directed me to put one foot in the car and to grab the handle. When she said lift in one swift movement she pushed me up into the car and it didn't hurt a bit. "Surprised I got you up there huh?"
"Yeah a bit." She laughed and took the bags from my mom.
"I used to be a CNA when I graduated highschool. Looks like the old girl still got it." She put the bags in the back seat.
"I wouldn't say old girl." I said and then she came back to come buckle my seat belt.
"Oh Mr. Hamilton flattery will get you places." She said as she positioned the belt so it wasn't over my shoulder.
"What kind of places we talking?" I asked mischievously. She raised an eyebrow at me and was unimpressed.
"Settle down Romeo." She said trying to hide her laughter. "Alright thanks Diana. Remember anytime you want to visit don't hesitate." Chelsee said and then hugged my mom.
"Thanks for doing this hun." She kissed Chelsee on the cheek and then looked over at me. "I'll see you soon ok son. Love you."
"Love you too mom." I gave her a side hug and she kissed my cheek. Chelsee closed the door and then headed around to get in. After she shut her door she turned the car on. As she put the car in drive I looked over at her. "Wanna tell me what's wrong?" I asked. She looked over at me slowly.
"What do you mean?"
"You look exhausted and a bit worried. Are you having second thoughts about this?" I asked hurriedly. She shook her head and put her hand on my thigh.
"Of course not. It was a long night. I'm afraid it'll have to wait until we're at the house though." She said and gave me a reassuring smile. "It'll upset you and I just want to get you in the house so it's not harder to get you settled."
"Upset me, has something happened?" I asked worried now. What the hell happened between when she left and came back this morning. Did something happen with one of the kids?
"I promise I'll tell you. Declan made me promise. I'd tell you anyways I just feel like I want to wait until we get to the house ok?" She asked. I nodded and we fell silent for the rest of the ride. What could have happened that was so bad she felt like she need to wait to tell me. It didn't take us very long and Chelsee once again smoothly got me out of the car. She grabbed the bags and led me into the house. She was walking me up the stairs when I started heading for the spare room."Where are you going?" She asked.
"Umm has the spare room moved?" I asked not sure what she meant. She gave me a your stupid look and started pulling me towards her door.
"Clint first off. You've had a head injury I'm not letting you sleep alone, second we've slept together and have shared a bed. So I'm thinking we're a bit past spare rooms." My eyes went wide. I never expected her to let me sleep in her room. To be honest after what happened last time we shared a room together. I was a little scared. We walked in to her room and on the one of the bed there was an entire set up for me. There was a t.v tray, bottles of watter, snacks, magazines, you name it.
"Chelsee you didn't have to go to all this trouble. I feel bad." I said and she put my bags down by the couch and led me over to the bed. She pulled the blankets back and got me sat down.
"This is what you do for someone you love Clint. Help them when they can't help themselves." A smile grew on my face as I sat back after taking my slippers off. She pulled the blankets over me and then sat on the edge of the bed. "How do you feel?"
"I'm on cloud 9." I said excitedly. "So tell me. What's going on?" She sighed and the smile left her face.
"Your dad came here last night." I froze. The surge of anger started to spread through me.
"He was in your house?" She nodded and then continued on with the story. She told me everything that was said. Even from Declan, which I'm happy he was here. Also that he stood up for me, I never would have expected that. What an amazing kid.
"You should probably know what Declan said about you to your dad." She said slowly.
"Oh man, do I want to know?" I asked worriedly. She gave me a soft smile.
"It's not bad at all." She looked down and pressed her lips together. When she looked up she had tears in her eyes. "He said if you want to learn to be a father take some tips from your son."
"He said that?" I asked. I don't think I've ever had such a compliment.
"Yeah, that kid has really been growing up to fast lately. He's been asking me all these crazy questions. It's just thrown me for a loop." She said and then stood up from the bed. "He asked me something last night and it kept me up?" She ran her hand through her hair and then took her jacket off.
"What did he ask you?" I asked now more curious.
"If I still wanted kids of my own now since I've had them." She said and then sat down on the other side of the bed. Interested in the answer I spoke.
"What did you say?" I asked slowly.
"Nothing." I didn't know how to feel from that answer. "To be honest I haven't even thought about it in years. I didn't really see myself with kids when I dated Brad. So it really wasn't a thought."
