You've put your foot in it, gone and got it all wrong,
Jumped the gun, it's the same old song,
Putting words in their mouth, drawing your own conclusions,
Accusing, wrong end of the stick, conjuring your fanciful illusions.
When what you really need to do is open your ears,
And stop, breathe, take it in, truly hear,
Be still, listen, understand, reflect,
For they didn't say what you presumed, expect,
Instead of trying to pounce, guess their next line,
You should grant them what they deserve: your focus, your time.
