JERIC'S POV
After gaining a shoulder injury on our second game of the season, the doctor adviced me to rest it first before discussing alternative theraphy for my bummed shoulder. I was tentatively scheduled to be back on the 2nd round of the season, pero kahit yon hindi pa rin sure. Daaamn. I'm on my final playing year for UST, team captain and a promising MVP, but fate played on me. Kung kailan kailangan ako ng team, doon ako wala. Mom wouldn't even allow me to go to our trainings kasi baka daw pilitin ko parin maglaro kahit hindi pa pwede. Frustrating. I love basketball too much that my world revolved around it. And now, para akong batang pinagkaitan ng candy. The only positive thing about my situation is that I get to spend more time with Sab, we can have more dates together dahil I have all the time in the world to be with her.
K. Chris: Oh, Jeric. Dito ka mag- theraphy? How's your shoulder?
Jeric: Ah, opo Kuya. *smiles* Okay naman po, I came here for a check- up lang po. Next week pa yung theraphy. Hmm, I'll miss the next few games pero hopefully sana makabalik na before 2nd round.
K. Chris: You'll be back, antayin mo lang. I'm sure youre team will be just fine.
Jeric: Yeap, I trust them po. I know they can make it even without me. *smiles* Ahh, Kuya. Una na po ako ha. Pupunta ko pa si Sab eh.
K. Chris: Ahhh Jeric. Yun rin pala kaya ako lumapit. Can you spare me 5 minutes in my office?
Jeric: Ah, osige po. I'll just tell Manong Randy.
Kung may mas nakaka- frustrate pa sa injured shoulder ko, eto na yon.
K. Chris: Nagkita na ba ulit kayo ni Sab after ka ma- injure?
Jeric: Hindi pa po eh. Medyo naging busy po kasi ako dahil sa dami ng check- ups. After a week ngayon lang po ulit. Why po?
K. Chris: Je, will you please try to be open minded about what I'm going to say? Please for Sab?
Jeric: Ano po ba yun?
K. Chris: I'm not in the position to tell you this, pero alam ko Sab will tell you this soon. And I want you to be ready for it. Sa lahat ng tao sa buhay ni Sab, alam kong ikaw yung papakinggan niya. *smiles* and hopefully, you do change her mind.
Jeric: Kuya? I'm lost...
K. Chris: Sab's not going to undergo chemotheraphy anymore.
Jeric: So okay na po sya? Or merong alternative treatment for her?
K. Chris: No. Ayaw nya na magpa- chemo pa ulit. She thinks its not necessary, at this point.
Jeric: Pero di ba there's a relapse? Bakit hindi necessary? She needs it, right?
K. Chris: Yes, she does it need, sobra. We don't know what made her change her mind, basta ayaw niya na daw. Kahit ako, kahit anong pilit ko she won't tell me the real reason why.
Jeric: Kuya, as much as I don't want to know the answer, but I think its time I should ask. Malapit na po ba?
Daaamn, you have the strength to ask about it... But do you have the strength to face the answer?
K. Chris: Jeric... Kung meron na kailangan maging positive sa inyo, ikaw yun. She will draw strength and hope from you....
Jeric: Kuya, I just need to know.
K. Chris: Okay. *sighs* There's a little chance for her to survive this. Little. Or maybe, hopefully not, she won't survive this one.
