Have I ever told you how much I love you? No. Good. Because if I ever did, you might use it against me. Oh my darling readers, life would be so dull and sad and dreary and melted ice cream without you. Seriously. You complete me. Like, 1/12 of me. Hahaha. And that’s no lie. So, here’s another chapter to my true loves, my readers!

“What do you want now, Tyler?” I sighed, hopelessly annoyed, and looked up at the brunette standing in front of me. His hair was styled in the messy way that I believe would have been hot if he wasn’t the one sporting it. Tyler was shorter than most guys, only two inches taller than me, and was lanky. No, not the ‘lean and lightly muscled lanky’ it was the kind of lanky that screamed ‘my only work-out is flirting’. And believe me, he sucked at it. He has this ridiculous idea that all he needs to do is grin and say a few compliments and girls will just fall at his feet. It may work for guys like Tanner but with guys like Tyler, well, they need to work on it a bit more. Just a little bit. As little as the territory of Mordor.
“Nothing much, I just to sit in the company of four gorgeous girls.” He said, taking a seat and winking like he thought he was an absolute Casanova. Despite how rude he was, I stifled a laugh. Not because I actually liked his company, but because his wink looked more like he was having a seizure. Or like one of those plastic , stuck up and overly made-up girls trying to take a selfie while there’s an earthquake. Those dumb idiots most likely would post it on their instagrams and put stupid hash tags like ‘OhEmGee’ or ‘EarthquakeSelfie’. I swear, as the years roll by, the percentage of people who actually use their brain cells get lower and lower. It’s rather disappointing. Wait, what were we talking about again?
I glanced at the girls to see what their reactions were and saw that they were fighting to not laugh out loud like a bunch of maniacs like I was. I like the fact that we’ve only just met but we act like we’ve known each other forever. I really don’t understand it since I’m not, at all, good with other people but I somehow find myself feeling comfortable around them.
Let me explain who (or what) Tyler is. You see, my school has two popular cliques. The Cool Kids and the Wannabes. Tyler Ford, ladies and gentlemen, is a wannabe. Let’s put it this way, you know how in Greek mythology the gods have giant counterparts, well this was sort of like that. Each person in the Cool Kids group had a corresponding person in the Wannabes group that tried to ‘overthrow’ them. Dramatic? I know right. So, Tyler was Tanner’s pathetic excuse for a counter part, his words, not mine. That’s why Tyler was a big flirt. And ever since I stepped in the schools entrance, I became his new target. It was extremely annoying.
“Aren’t you going to introduce me to your lovely friends, Rae?” he asked me, his eyes trained on Karissa. Behind him, I fake gagged which apparently was too much because right when I did that the girls burst into another round of laughter. I joined in, enjoying the confused face Tyler had on.
And then our table was suddenly covered in shadows. Wow. That sounded so...dark and sinister. I looked up to find my big brother and his friends- Oh what the heck! I looked up to find my five big brothers towering above us wearing intimidating expressions that left Tyler shaking. For all his bravado he was still a wimp.
“And what do you think you’re doing with my little sister, Tyler? I thought I’ve made it clear that she is off-limits.” Blake said in a deathly calm voice.
“I’m not here for your sister Blake. I’m here to meet her pretty friends actually.” He said with all the confidence he could muster (which was impressive since he looked like he was about to pee in his pants) and, like the creep he is, gazed intensely at the girls, especially at Karissa, who looked highly uncomfortable with the attention. It angered me that he made my friends feel uncomfortable. I may not seem like it, but I was a highly protective person when it came to the people I cared about. Before Blake or I could retaliate though, deep, humorless laughter surrounded us.
