It was Friday afternoon and Nick took me on a date. My kind of date that involved going to a bookstore that had a sale going on. I may or may not have lost Nick though. It shouldn’t be that hard to find him, but then again, I knew better.

“Oh! I’m sorry!” I said, internally punching myself. I was always like this nowadays, my head getting stuck in the clouds. All because of Nick. Yes Nick, my boyfriend.

 Nick. Was. My. Boyfriend.

Just thinking about it makes me feel all giddy. I snapped out of my thoughts when the person I bumped into finally stood up. Ohmyglob! I forgot my manners.

“No. No. It’s my fault.” He said smiling. I took a closer look at him. Dark brown hair, grey eyes. He looked pretty decent. But he could never beat Nick. Or maybe I’m just biased.

“Really, I am very sorry. There’s just been a lot on my mind and-“ I was cut off when an arm wrapped itself around me and soft lips touched the side of my head. I didn’t even have to look at him to know it was none other than my boyfriend. Hahahaha. My boyfriend.

I felt like I was drunk again. So bubbly and dream-like. But the truth was that I wasn’t drunk nor was I dreaming. This was real. And that thought made it all the more better. I smiled up at him and he smiled back.

“What’s going on here?” he asked in an amused voice before looking at the guy I bumped into. Auuuugh that voice of his. It was like listening to a million violins. So heartwrenchingly beautiful. And yes, I understand that was corny. But, heck, I couldn’t help it. Welcome to the corncob that is love.

“Oh nothing. Your girlfriend just decided to be a lawn mower and apparently mistook me for grass.” He said, grinning. I stuck my tongue out at him and he retaliated.

“No I wasn’t! And if I did, how could I not when you’re dressed like that?” I said, motioning to his outfit. He was wearing a light green V-neck shirt with dark brown pants. See what I mean?

“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing? I’ll have you know, a very attractive woman told me I looked good.” he asked, incredulous.

“Your mom doesn’t count.” I answered stifling a laugh. Nick squeezed my shoulder, letting out a snort at my rather witty response. The stranger blinked.

“How did you know that?” he looked utterly surprised, which made me burst out in laughter.

“I’m sorry about her. She forgot to drink her meds today. The name’s Nick.” He held out his hand for the stranger to shake. ”And this is Rae.”

“I’m Zach. Nice to meet you Nick...and Rae.”

Zach turned out to be new to this town so Nick and I took it upon ourselves to show him around. It was fun because he was sweet and had an awesome sense of humor, though when I told the girls about him, they all told me the same thing.

“He likes you.”

“Like, like-like.”

“Like totes.”

“No he doesn’t!” I threw my hands up in the air.

Sometimes, singing EEEEH-YO! Gotta let goooo!

Ohmyglob V.O.R.! Stop.

Don’t stop belieeeeevin’!

Ever since Nick and I started dating about a week ago, my Voice Of Reason decided to be unreasonable. I mentally rolled my eyes and tuned back in to the girls.
