Okay, so here's the thing. After Love At First Slice, I'm planning to post 2 stories. Now, before I do, I need someone to make me awesome covers for them. Interested? All you gotta do is message me for the details, alright? Cool.

Soooo, I think that's all for now. Enjoy Chapter 12!

I tossed and turned in my bed. I couldn’t sleep well. Which is kinda obvious since, like I said before, I was tossing and turning in my bed. Bahumbug, that was a rather redundant statement.

I sat up and checked the time on my phone. I wanted to call Nick. To talk to him. To hear his voice. I just miss us being...us. No awkwardness. No tension. No jealousy.

And it was like he felt the same way because the next thing I know my phone rings with his name flashing on the screen.

“Hey.” I said softly, smiling. I couldn’t help feeling giddy because he called. I’m such a sap.

“Meet me outside.” Was all he said before hanging up. Well, okay. I was expecting something a bit more romantic, but then again, beggars can’t be choosers. I got up and pulled a thick sweater over my tank top. It was chilly in here so that meant it was chilly outside too.

Logic at 1:30 a.m. ladies and gentlemen. I deserve an award.

I walked down the stairs and exited throught the front door. And there stood Nick, a couple of feet away in jogging pants and a hoodie. In the porch light, I could make out his tousled hair and weary eyes.

“Couldn’t sleep?” I asked, smiling up at him. I leaned forward, planning to kiss him.

“I need to tell you something.” He said suddenly, leaning away from me. My eyebrows knitted together in confusion and my mind filled with worried thoughts about where this could lead. I mean, he wasn’t going to-

“I’m breaking up with you.” He said, making me abruptly snap out of my thoughts. I felt my stomach drop and my heart ache. It was like stepping on a lego, while listening to nails on a chalkboard. It took all my will power not to fall to my knees then and there.

“Wh-what?” I asked, not caring if I woke everybody up. I pinched myself, hoping this was nothing more that a bad dream. But it wasn’t. This was real. He was really breaking up with me.

“It’s over.” He said, starting to walk away as my eyes watered. Every step he took made my heart break more and more. I closed my eyes tight as my throat closed up with sobs that were threatening to break out.

“You promised! You promised you’d never hurt me!” I shouted after him. I felt so betrayed, so...so helpless.

 But he didn’t look back.

I tried composing my self as much as I could before opening the door. I locked it behind me and hurried back into my room. Picking up my phone, I shakily called Cade. I needed my girls.

“Hello?” was her sleepy greeting. I let out a sob, the first of many.

“Rae? Rae, what’s wrong?” she asked more alert now.

“N-nick. H-he broke up with me.” I said, letting the tears fall harder.

“We’ll be there in 5 minutes.”
