Penny Fefferman (Ariel Winter) is ova dere! ->
Did I mention she's BEAUTIFUL?!
--------------------
This Jamie girl was strong, and she was one to put up an argument, just like her mother.
She pretty much gave up by the time we got to her cabin. Now, all she did was whine.
"Why is the bed so small?"
"Why am I here?"
"This is so boring!"
I finally just pulled out her iTouch and plugged in the earbuds.
She looked shocked. She froze. She looked as if she was ready to run.
The song was really good, and I never heard this artist before. I checked for a name, but it said Unknown.
"What's the song called?"
She sighs, as if it's a burden to speak, and mutters, "Give Me a Chance."
I hand her back the device, and head to the office.
Give me a chance, I type in to the search engine. Give Me a Chance Lyric Video. It reads. I click on the YouTube link, and the acoustics start playing. (AN:I wrote this as I wrote this chapter, so please no harsh judgement, I know it sucks)
"It seems like this is starting to be a pattern,
me, on my knees, at your door.
It seems like to you it doesn't really matter,
What we, went through,
So, here I am, throwing pebbles,
Singing love songs at your door,
Don't you miss what we had before?
Don't you miss what we had before?
And all I ask is for you to give me a chance,
To win back your heart."
(AN: I don't want to release the whole song just yet, I might release it at the end of the story, if you'd like)
I finish the song, and instantly start tearing up a bit. Who is this singer? I search it on YouTube and find the music video. It's from last December, but I don't really care. It's awesome.
The video starts in darkness, and then a single spotlight beams on the person. I pause it.
Holy shit, it's Jamie. I scroll down to see her username. Whoa.
I start to walk up when I hear a familiar yet annoying voice yell, "Allison!"
I turn around to see yet another person today. This time, not as exciting.
"You remember me, Kathy Fefferman!" She comes up to give me a bone crushing hug.
"Hello, Mrs. Fefferman! How's little Penny doing?"
"I'm not little anymore, Als."
Penny steps out of the van. Dang, she's almost as tall as me! She still has those glasses, though.
Unlike her mother, she gives me a nice hug.
"You're all grown up, Penny!"
"Yeah, in a few years, I'll be able to be a counselor, and take your job," she jokes, and in protest. "Hey!"
"Um, Allison, here is all of her medical files that you will need, including a new guide to her allergies, her medications, and everything!" She takes a huge pile of files (AN: not meaning to rhyme) and puts them into my hands.
"Of course, Mrs. Fefferman!" I cheerfully reply, and attempt waving while keeping them in my hands.
After the car disappears, Penny grabs all the papers and puts them in her bag. "What are you doing with-"
"You already have the updated files... My mom's a freak, I don't have any new diseases or allergies. Heard you graduated early..... Congrats!" She gives me a big hug, and I carry her bag to the cabin.
"So..... Got a boyfriend?" I smirk, and she rolls her eyes as if I'm some dad trying to figure out new text abbreviations.
"Well.... I have a really special something in my life right now.... It's been going strong for a while."
I was kidding, but she's serious. "Who?"
"It's called YouTube..... and I think I'm in love."
"Wow, YouTube must be real popular."
"Well, it's people like ItsGrace, Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart, Shane Dawson, Jamie Black-"
I cut her off. "What does Jamie Black do?"
"She is on the LGBT council, and she sings, does sketches, has some sass though... Why?"
"Well, before I answer, let's go to your cabin."
"Holy shit, I cannot believe what I'm seeing." Penny looks at Jamie, and then Jamie drops the clothes she was unloading.
"Hi there.... I'm Jamie."
She offers a hand to shake and Penny shakes her hand.
"Not to sound stalkerish, but I know. I'm Penny, and I've seen you on YouTube. You're really great."
This makes Jamie smile for the first time I've seen her here.
"Are you a Jamist?"
"Yeah, a bit of a Jamist." Penny face is turning redder than a cherry, and I'm just watching them talk.
"So, Penny, how long have you gone to this infernal camp?"
This makes her frown. "Camp Takota is the best. It's like my home."
Penny starts unpacking, and it's silent for a while.
After a bit, she says, "Sorry for sounding so defensive, I've just been going here for a really long time, and really, I understand how you feel. I brought video games and all my electronics because I had no interest here. But, the longer you're here, the more you get to know and love the people, and the camp itself here. A wise person once told me 'stop worrying about when you'll reach your destination, enjoy the ride.'"
And with that, Penny grabbed her SnapBack, and exited the cabin, making her way to the office.
"I'm gonna guess you said that, Jamie."
"Yep." She breathes out, seeing the hurt in her eyes from getting pretty much owned by a fan.
"Well, I'm gonna give you some time, hotshot, and then you can join us later..."
I follow Penny and I give her a high five, because
never in my life was I ever more proud of a camper, then in that moment.
