I have never felt so strong yet so sad at the same time. Strong because he deserved to be called out, but sad because Elise loves him. I feel a cloud of regret and guilt hang over me as the night goes on. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful night to head out to Cliff's rock. I grabbed my picnic basket, a hiking backpack with a first aid kit and alcohol. I then set out onto the hike. I haven't been up here since that last truth or dare, and the night's just as clear as the last time I was here.
Nature is just so a-"Fuck!" I screamed.
I tripped and scraped my leg. Now, under normal circumstances, I would return back to camp... But, for the first time in my life, I don't want to follow protocol.
Screw protocol!
Plus, I'm pretty close to Cliff's, and it'll be easy to stitch or whatever I need to do. I put most of my weight on the other leg, and limped to the end. When I got there, it was amazing. The stars were out, the moon glistened on the lake... The view was on fleek.
But all I could think about was how much more beautiful it would be with El here with me.
I opened the marshmallow bag, and grabbed the lighter fluid. I put a marshmallow in the pit, dosed it in lighter fluid, and then set it on fire. Finding twigs and logs was not too hard, surprisingly. I threw them in the pit with some more lighter fluid, and then there was fire. A little bit of lighter fluid may have gotten onto my leg. I don't really remember. All I remember is the burning sensation on the lower part of my leg. "Shit." I grab my blanket from my bag, and try to put it out. No such luck for Allison Henry. I then decided to jump off the Cliff. It's not that far down, just around thirty feet. It felt great for a bit, until I remembered it was brackish water, which is half salt and half fresh. The salt burns even more than the literal flames that had, until now, ate at a small part of my leg. Soon, I felt two hands lift me out of the water, and onto the shore.
Elise?
Is that you?
I cough and sputtered for a second before I looked up at my rescuer. Or should I say rescuers. I laid on the sand, cold and wet, with two faces looking down at me. Jamie and Penny. I believe Jamie's the one who jumped in, due to her clothing being drenched. I can imagine Penny told Jamie she wasn't having any of that.
"Is she dead?" Jamie asked, carefully examining my face.
"No, you beautiful idiot. She's fine. Soon she'll become conscious again and wonder why the hell we're here..." She looked up and down at me, and then realized something.
"Shit, that's a nasty burn though."
"Where?"
Penny pointed at my leg.
"It feels nasty too," I said. I immediately sat up, and felt myself wince. Success! I scared them!
Jamie tripped backwards and fell on Penny, who fell too. They ended up on the ground with me, laughing.
"As much as I think you guys are cute, can you please get me the first aid? I could probably stitch it up from here... Is something wrong?" I stopped talking because they both gave me weird looks.
"Allison Montgomery Henry," Penny started, "Your leg sliced open on a hike, was set on fire, and you survived a fall off of a cliff. A CLIFF."
She sent Jamie to climb up the cliff while she stayed with me. We sat in silence for a while, until I realized something.
"You know, if anyone should be yelling, it should be me. You are out past your hours with your girlfriend-"
"She's not my girlfriend." She snapped, and I flinch due to my instincts.
"Why, do we look like a couple?"
She fumbled with her hair, and I feel puzzled.
"What?"
"I don't know... Would you ship us?"
"What is with all these people and boats?!"
Penny chuckled and sighed.
"Oh, Al. You're something."
She patted my back, and Jamie came back with a person behind her.
"Henry, do you have a death wish?" It's Maxine, who picks me up bridal style.
"Get back to your cabin." I slurred, and Jamie gave me a thumbs up.
"May I?" Jamie asked.
"May you wh-" Penny's interrupted by Jamie picking her up bridal style as well. Penny put her arms around Jamie, and they walked behind us. Soon though, Maxine started sprinting. It was a miracle she didn't trip or drop me. The night was pitch black yet that didn't stop her.
I feel myself slowly drifting to sleep, until someone else switched with Maxine and started to carry me. I squinted up to see the one and only, Elise Miller.
"You were right," she said, sighing. "Why do you always have to be right?" Tears started to form in her eyes, and trailed down her face.
"El, it's okay." I raised my hand to graze her face, and wiped the tears. "We'll be alright."
She placed me into her car, and sat beside me as Chet and Maxine drove us to the ER.
-No One's POV-
After the car stopped, Elise scooped her broken Al up and sprinted out of the car. When she made it inside, she started to scream. That caught the doctor's attention. They got a gurney, and Elise placed her on it.
"You always were so loud," Allison said, as she laughed. Al's laugh made Elise's heart skip a beat.
The doctors examined her for a couple of minutes.
"Book an ER room. She needs surgery, fast. Get an ortho and a trauma on this case." They start to wheel Al fast, and Elise runs alongside.
"Will she be alright?" Elise questions, causing Al to smile. She cares about me, Al thought in her head, feeling as if her life was just made complete.
"It's a simple procedure, but please wait in the waiting room." The doctor said, basically shooing her away.
"Al?"
"I'll see you on the other side," Al squeezed her hand, and Elise watched as the love of her life went through those doors.
Minutes and hours passed before Elise received word of Allison's results.
There was crying.
So much crying.
Elise pulled the surgeon in for a hug, which he did not expect. While the surgeon was trying to comprehend what was happening, Elise sneakily wiped her tears onto the man's scrubs.
"Thank you," she stuttered, letting go. She ran to the room, where her companion laid in a hospital bed.
"El," Al croaked.
