I woke up as usual at 7 o'clock. I got up and put on some clothes. Weirdly enough I couldn't quite remember yesterday or the day before that but it didn't bother me much honestly. I walked down the stairs and to the kitchen. "Mom? Dad?" Nobody was home. "Weird." I shrugged it off as I made a sandwich and watched some tv. I looked over at the clock. 7.35. Time to go to school. I put on my jacket and my shoes and walked out the door.

When I arrived at the school I went and tried to find my friends but it didn't seem like they were there. I guess I'm alone today. I sighed to myself and walked to my locker. There was notes all over it that said "I miss you" and other weird stuff. Must be a prank or something. I ignored the notes and got my stuff for the first lesson.

The first three lessons was really slow going and none of my friends were there. Finally I got to a class where somebody I knew was in. But she seemed to ignore me the whole class. What was that about? I thought to myself as I walked to lunch. I went to sit at our regular table and ate my lunch. Everybody ignored me all day and it started to get to me. But school was soon over and I could go home to my parents.

I took the longer route home today and walked over the street. There were police tape at the edge of the street. But I paid no attention to it as I kept on walking home. When I arrived to my house I saw my mom sitting staring out the window so I waved to her but she didn't wave back. She just stared blankly in front of her, almost as she stared right through me. It was scaring me so I hurried inside to see if she was alright.

"Mom! Mom?" She didn't answer just kept staring, I noticed now that she was crying. "Mom? Why are you crying? Why can't you answer me?" I spoke softly to her. But she didn't react this time either. My dad walked into the room and took her in his embrace. "Dad. What's happening?" He just ignored me. "Answer me!" I had lost my patience and screamed to them. "Why are everybody ignoring me?" I started to cry too now. My dad spoke lowly through broken whispers barely audible to me. "Shh.. I know it's hard to know he's gone but there's nothing we could've done." Mom broke down sobbing and shaking violently.

And it dawned upon me, everything fell into places. They couldn't hear me or see me because I wasn't there. I was dead. All the pieces fit. The notes, the absence of my friends. I cried even more now. "No..no it can't be. Mom! Dad! Please listen. I'm right here!" I fell to the floor. Crying. Exhausted from my own tears. "It just feels like he's still here and it's too much." It was my mom who spoke this time. My dad let go of my mom and turned around. "Please, Daniel. If you are here, please leave. We miss you a lot but we can't handle your presence at the time. I'm sorry."

It had been a week now and it was time for the funeral. It was really weird watching you own funeral but I had my friends and family by my side. And that's all that mattered in this moment.
