It was as if my eyes were glued to theirs. I couldn't look away for more than a second without having to glance back. I needed to make sure they were still there, unmoving, staring into the ocean. If someone heard me thinking, they would assume I was a stalker, and I wouldn't blame them, but I couldn't blame myself either. The eyes matched the scene they were staring at. It was like watching two dogs face each other, waiting to see when the other one would pounce to kill.
It's not like the eyes were comforting, or even calming, in fact, they were quite the opposite. Riptides tore at the iris's, as wars waged in the background. Thoughts screamed to be released, pounding at the barrier that separated them from the world they wanted to touch. She wipes a tear from her cheek and exhales loudly through their nose.
stormy eyes. bursting with lightning and enveloped with clouds.
ocean eyes. overflowing with water and drowned in waves.
Eyes that flitted around the sea as if searching for a purpose that was embedded somewhere there.
Eyes that I happened to fall in love with.
And I've never fallen from quite this high
Falling for her ocean eyes.
only 207 words because I'm like that. also, this was written in a hot second ( it took roughly 15 minutes) but I really liked how it ended up. the last two lines are from the song "ocean eyes" by Billie Elliesh.
