Prologue

"Alexandria! Leia? Sydney, Taressa!" Queen Retia called. "Come along girls, it's almost supper time!" Four little girls came running out of the forest, hair flying behind them. "Momma Momma Momma! I shot a Wanderdoodle!" The one with wavy red hair yelled excitably. "That's wonderful dear!" The queen replied, knowing full well a "Wanderdoodle" was a figment of Taressa's imagination. The smaller one with brown-pecan hair asked her mother, "What's for supper momma?" The queen smiled at her daughter. "Roast Chicken, Sydney, your favorite girls!" The girls faces lit up with happiness, and they danced around in a circle. Then the one with honey blonde hair stopped and looked up to her mother with pleading eyes. "Since it's our birthday tomorrow, can we sleep in?" The girls heard a deep chuckle from behind them as they were scooped up by a tall man with broad shoulders. "DADDY!" They all shouted, and hugged him. The queen laughed quietly. "Yes you girls can sleep in, Alexandria... If you can tell me how old you're going to be. "Four momma! We're gonna be four year old!" the girl with light blonde hair spoke enthusiastically. The queen chuckled. "Quite right, Leia." King Detran sat his four daughters at a small wooden table and the queen gave each of them a piece of chicken. Alexandria placed a napkin on her gold dress and removed her forest green cape setting it down on the bench. Taressa did the same with her Red cape, Leia with her Brown cape, and Sydney with her deep blue cape. The girls immediately ate their chicken. Soon after they finished, they fell into a deep sleep, but not for long. about an hour later they were woke up by a quiet rumbling in the forest. Their parents had fallen asleep, but they hadn't woken up. The girls got up silently, putting on their capes and shoes, and then ventured into the dark forest. As they got closer to the rumbling, they all began to get nervous. "May... Maybe we should go back?" Sydney spluttered nervously. Taressa and Alexandria shook their heads. "We'll be fine!" Taressa said pointing to their mini bow and arrows. Sydney didn't look too convinced. Leia just stared ahead, deadly silent, horror etched upon her face. When Sydney, Taressa, and Alex noticed, they looked at what she was string at, and at the same time, they all let out ear piercing screams. Two horses, broke through the trees and picked the girls up. The girls buried their heads in their parents chests. Retia and Detran looked at the scene horrified. Two hooded figures stood up silently, the bodies of two bloody horses lay at their feet. They both held jagged daggers. They rose their hands, and a force of dark magic attempted to knock them off their horses, but Queen Retia meet them with an equal amount of Light Magic, which knocked them off their feet. Taressa looked over her mother's shoulder and saw four more hooded figures making their ways toward them, unnoticed by anyone but her. she looked at her sisters and at the same time they Jumped down and ran out to stop them. "NO!" The queen shouted, but the girls held their own. Fire, Water, Air, and Earth joined together and overpowered the figures. They queen and king grabbed their daughters and raced back to the castle. The girls had called upon the power of the elements. They had come early, and that had NEVER happened before. It was in that moment that the King and Queen knew just how powerful and different their daughters were, and so did the hooded figures. They could either bring the rise of Aether, or its downfall.

The hooded figures raced back to their master. "King Fjord. You were right. The Girls are more powerful than even Queen Wandera. They have already called upon the elements, and they answered. They can destroy anything in their paths." The leader hissed, motioning to their four missing companions. The king smiled cruelly. "Wonderful." He then let out a deep, dreadful laugh. "Ahhh, Taressa, Leia, Sydney, Alex.... When i'm done with you, Aether will have never even EXISTED." He thundered, watching the girls look back at the forest with terrified expressions, through his glass orb that the Witch Wandera had made especially for him to watch the girls for the rest of their lives.
